i need a cut-out cookie that is kinda chunky for making human-edible "doggie bones."

i tried with the tollhouse choc chip recipe, but it slumped into an unrecognizable shape. i had to add almost double the flour to get it able to be rolled. it worked then, but they didn't taste too great. there was no problem cutting through the chips, firm pressing with the cutter chopped right through them. but they were still a little slumpy and did have that really floury taste. blech.

i just finished making a mountain of spicy oatmeal cookies this week and the cookie texture looks for all the world like doggie treats. but they are really slumpy too. and i'm sure if i added flour, i'd wind up with that icky bready taste.

so does anyone have any recipes that would work for human doggie treats? or know how to dr up an oatmeal or choc chip recipe & not have it come out floury?

thanks!

Maybe bake oatmeal as thin bar cookie, then cut dog bones while still warm?

How about using the NFSC recipe, but adding some rolled oats to it? Once the dough is made, you could knead in some oats by hand. Try just a couple first to see how they turn out, so you don't use a whole batch of dough if it's not going to do what you want.

Seems like that would work, but I've never tried it . . .

Laura.
