OK I don't like to complain, but the last few times I've uploaded a picture it hasn't been shown on the newest photos gallery. There is like a 5 minute or so wait time with the same pictures on it then it skips to the last 5 or 6 pictures uploaded after that wait time. So I'm sure there are quite a few pictures not getting spotlighted for at least a minute or two. I don't know if any of you feel the same way, but I like to get views and comments on my pictures for self-reassurance and I don't think they get the same opportunity to get viewed if they're not spotlighted on the home page for a minute of two. And when I don't get the views or comments I hope for, I start doubting myself. (At least I'm hoping it's just because of this wait time that I'm not getting the views or comments I would like.)

I have noticed that as well. Don't dought your self you do a very good job.

I think instead of "POPULAR CAKE PHOTOS -- added today" they should spotlight "ALL PHOTOS ADDED TODAY". It's always the popular ones that keep getting more popular! Some people just aren't on the home page when the new photos come up .... we're all missing good ones! If you agree, keep this thread going, maybe they'll change the rotation.

I feel the same way. I think Little Linda's idea is a GREAT one! So many great cakes are surely missed and, as Little Linda mentioned, the popular ones just get more views and comments with the home page the way it is now. I insecurely start to doubt myself a lot too when I post and get limited comments/views. I am hoping it is just because my cake wasn't shown long enough.

Personally I don't use the home page as an indication of the newest photos, I go to the galleries and click on the tab that says Last uploads. I get the impression lately from a lot of comments I've seen that people may not be aware of this tab, I then spend some time going through these pics. My request would be that there is a tab or button to click next to the newest added photos that do show on the homepage called Last uploads or newest photos, that would take you directly to the mentioned gallery, the old homepage did have this link but not the pics, now it's the other way around and I miss that quick link from the front page.

ME TOO!! When you don't see them and get only one comment.....makes you wonder how long it was even on the home page if at all. Or maybe I was the only one that thought it was cute.

I always go to the ....... .com website, (my p.c. goes there automatically already) about 3-4times a day, click on galleries and "last uploads" and I
am sure I get to see all of the newest cakes.

I have to agree with everyone that has posted. We need some changes. Maybe I'm just whining because I'm tired, but we all know that the popular photos are all made by great people and that they are great learning tools. But what about the rest of us that are just starting out and need the constructive criticism from all of the pros?

I personally joined this site to gain as much insight as I possibly could on the development of a new career (hopefully). I would LOVE for all the superstars to be able see all of our new creations for the extra added support and confidence to know that we're on the right track.

Sorry for the rant, but I agree, the Newbies need more time on the soap box.

I never knew about that tab either. That's good to know it's there, but how many people actually realize it. And I agree with the fact that the ones that are in the most popular continue to get there because they get that spotlight and continue to get more and more hits because it is on the home page. Not saying that they don't deserve it cause they are amazing cakes, but what about the rest of us who don't even get that chance. They should put a tab on the home page for the newest uploaded cakes.

I just wanted to add my $.02 - I was just coming here to post a question about the fact that my cake got skipped on the front page. I went on to read a sticky post about comments on pics for newbies and then I came to this post.

I would love for there to be a tab on the home page to take us to the latest uploads page too. I usually go to the galleries page and then click the tab there. But I really think there are a lot of folks here who don't know about that yet. I feel like a lot of members, mainly newbies I'm sure, just use the home page for viewing.

I know I haven't said anything new or revolutionary, but i just wanted to officially add my name to the hat of people in favor for a few changes.

(Also, I would like to add that I had the honor of one of my cakes actually make it to the favorites slot once. I was just so excited. What a boost for my seriously low self esteem. I was so thankful to the many who posted comments. I really try to take the time and post comments on pictures that aren't getting many views or whatever. I know for me - it is important, so I think for others it must be too. Even if you are a newbie, please take the time to do unto others as you would have them do unto you - post on pics as often as you can. offer praise or advice (if asked for) or just let them know you liked their creation.)

Same here. I posted two cakes, one made it and the other, more difficult one (cigar box) didn't!! I know it's random but dang it I worked hard on that cake, ha ha.

My two pics this morning never made it to the home page either. You all have made several good points. I think the best one being the tab for last uploads being on the home page.
