If I furnish the item & someone else does the posting, packaging, shipping etc what percentage of the selling price should they have after all their expenses? Thanks.

Are you wanting to pay someone for packaging your items?

Am I understanding that correctly?

USPS provides free priority mail boxes, but they have to be used for shipping things only, not personal use. If you're paying someone to do this for you, you could pay them by the hour.

I know a woman who sells items that belongs to another company. She gets 20% of what it sells for (plus the shipping that is charged to the customer to cover the shipping costs). But for her listing, packing, etc she gets 20%.

I sell on ebay ALL the time. I also sell for others. If I am seeling for another person, I take 30% off the final auction price + they pay for the insert fee. If you go to an ebay store and have them sell for you that is what they take out. Good luck!

It cost quite a bit to post the item, plus the packagaing material and shipping. You have to take into consideration,

1) ebay listing fees and paypal which are based on final value.

2) packaging besides the outer box, depending on the items, does it need bubble wrap? packing noodles, etc. and tape. Is the item fragile?

3) will they have to travel to the post office with the package? they should be compensated for time and mileage.

If they are doing it as a favor to you, then you have to work out the details of what it will actually cost them to list it.

That being said, if someone were to ask me to do this, not as a favor, I would probably expect at least 20% on top of listing fees.
