I am wanting to make a garden type cake for my freinds baby shower that I am hosting on sunday.
The theme is butterflies.
I was thinking of bct but wanted to do like a white fence and flowers to but am not sure what to do. I can not seem to find any pictures of one around.
I like some of the other butterfly cakes but really wanted this if you think it is ok for a baby shower. Or any other ideas to tie in butterfly with baby girl but just so you know I am not all that good.
Thank You! icon_smile.gif

How big of a cake are you going to make? i

f it is not too big you may want to either make a fence on bottom edge and side of cake with the butterfiles landing on the post.

or maybe just use royal icing to make the picket fence and place the around the edge of the cake and a garden inside with some butterflies resting on the fence. just a thought. hope this helps

I would like to see the finished cake when done!

Sounds like a good idea, but how should I make the fence?

I was also thinking of just putting one big butterfly on the side and some
little ones around the edge. Thw pan size is 11x15x2. I thought of just using the pastel colors since it is for a girl.

I will post it when I get it done.....freezing it now for tomorrow.
I also did another fbct back in April but never got it posted...I think it turned out ok only the colors were not right.

Thank you for your suggestions Kriss! icon_smile.gif

You can make the fence out of color flow. We made one of these in one of our Wilton classes .. A white picket fence .. was really cute .. If you double tiered the cake, you could even use the picket fience around the sides of the cake .. I've seen cakes with that on them and it's really cute ..

when you say garden, do you mean flower garden? or what type of garden?

you can use the royal icing for the fence by using a template than sticking them from the top edge of the cake. if you are good with mmf why don't you make a baby with a butterfly resting on outstretch hand.

Jesika,

Look in my photos under the John Deere cake. I made a picket fence out of royal icing. It worked really well. I just drew out small sections so I could use what I needed. Hope this gives you an idea. icon_smile.gif

If you took the Wilton courses... I would go with the picket fence and butterfly pattern from the book.... I though it was really a nice theme for a garden cake..
Happy baking,
