Has anyone made crystal beads? There are directions in my Colette Peters book. Just wondering if anyone has any tips before I begin.

I have made them for my wedding cake but they crystalized a couple of days later. I have a new ration to for isomalt and it seems to be staying clear.

I bought a strand of jewels and amde a custom mold to pour in.

what is your technique using the isomalt. I think I read a thread recently about isomalt and you said it is spendy? I notice you are in MN too. I live near the Burnsville Sweet Celebrations, I'm assuming they would have it?

Yes they carry it in two pound bags for about $15.00

I have heard that others have to by a large quantity so I guess we are lucky to have it in such small amounts.

I now melt the isomalt slowly and add a bit of water. It all depends on how much you want to make at that point!

It is in the "Cakes to Dream On". Sorry, I typed out all the instructions and when I hit the submit button it was telling me there was an error? And then everything I typed in was gone! I haven't made these yet. I am in the process of making the gumpaste beads on wires. Hopefully it works out! They sure are beautiful on Colette's cakes!
