Calling on all you wonderful people again for help! Does anyone have any tried and true (and tasty please) cake and icing recipes that do not contain any soy products (this includes veg oil, crisco, or margarine) We have friends with soy allergies and they have asked me to make a big cake for a family gathering over Thanksgiving. I have no idea where to go for this one and didn't find anything in the recipe section here. Any help would be appreciated.

If you bake using whole foods, i.e., butter, eggs, milk and stay away from cake mixes and pre-made anything you should be okay. (I'm thinking organic food store.)

However, you are going to have to read the labels on "everything" that comes packaged (flour, etc.) to make sure it is not made in a plant where soybeans are also processed.

Your best resource for what and where to buy the ingredients and what kind of cake, would be the family that asked you make it! (Who better would know?)
