For the flavor: mmf & satin ice
For the lovely look and consistency: Satin ice
For making characters and things that are not to be eaten: Wilton (Dries fast and is easy to work with.)

I love the Toba Garrett fondant: http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-2127-Toba-Garretts-fondant.html

I haven't tried any other store-bought brands besides Wilton and haven't made any other besides MMF, which I don't really like much (but it's better than wilton's) but I don't have any reason to use any other. I love it. I haven't tried making molded characters with it or anything but I like to use gumpaste for that sort of thing.

can't say I've had any experience with anything but Satinice . . .for my first and only (to date) experience with fondant it was pleasant and trouble free . . . I had steered away from Wilton's based on the comments here stating it wasn't the nicest tasting product . . . who wants to spend time and money on something that nobody wants to eat?? Satinice was easy to work with . . . and although I have nothing to compare with . . . I would have to say it is "edible" . . . and to me that was important!! thumbs_up.gif
. . . Think of things not as they are . . . but as they might be . . . Don't merely dream . . . but create!!!

To eat... anything but Wilton! My kids say it tastes a little like play-dough and I think they are sorta' right. BUT I will have to agree with kassie73.. dries fast and is super easy!

MMF takes more time, but worth it!

I haven't worked with fondant much. I'm going to make the MMF this weekend. But can someone tell me....is there a recipe for Satin Ice or is that something you purchase??

Thanks,
Susie
