Substitute for paramount crystals

Is there a substitute for paramount crystals that tastes good. I am trying to make a covering of candy melts that are soft and won't dry hard to put on cake. I don't have any paramount crystals. Can I use something else???

Use a teaspoon of shortening. That is what Paramount Crystals is.

Thank you, Cindy. Is there a certain ratio to use?

I don't know the ratio for what you're looking for, just a little shortening will have it still setting hard so if you want it to set soft you'll probably need more. I know I can put a little shortening in that thins it some but will still give me something I can mold and handle.
I could be wrong but I thought the crystals were a wax base and not shortening. I've never used them but that's what I had understood.
