OK, OK, I know it is almost a year away (July 31 - Aug. 3, 200icon_cool.gif, but is anyone else thinking of going?

I am SO excited - I actually got my DH to agree for us to go. He loves Vegas and is more than happy to go hit the casinos or walk around the strip while I have my cake fun all day. I can't wait. I'm joining the CA Cake Club next week (along with the Michigan ICES chapter) as my birthday present from him.

So, does anyone else think they will be there too? We'll have to have some way to identify all of us CCers. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there! thumbs_up.gif

Looks like a good selection of classes. Did anyone go this year and have feedback to give? Would love to know if its worth the trip (although I can go to Vegas anytime!!).

I can't believe this hasn't gotten more interest. I know it is next summer but I need to start saving now.

I can't wait for the schedule of classes to be posted...

i think if you click on the link in the first post it will give you as much info as they have on it.... I don't think you have to be an ices member to attend.
I really want to go!!!!! Have to sell it to my husband though!!!!!

There isn't a lot of info posted on it yet. You can see it at:

www.cakecamp.com

They still have 2006 info posted for people to see as an example, plus a little blurb about 2008.

It is sponsored by the California Cake Club (CA ICES chapter I believe...could be wrong...anyone know for sure?). If you join, I think you get a discounted rate for Cake Camp and you will get a registration package. Membership for a year is only $20 (much less than my MI ICES chapter which is $60 year - I'm joining both next week!).

Here is a link to the CA Cake Club:

daltonam - You are right. 2008 classes are not posted yet. I think there is a note somewhere on the page that they left the 2006 info posted as an example of what types/variety of classes are offered.

The CA Cake Club hosts Cake Camp in Vegas every-other year. On alternating years, they've done a Cake Cruise! The 2007 Cake Cruise is an Alaskan Cruise. I haven't been to either yet, but am hoping to do the Camp in 2008! Everyone I've spoken with who went in 2006 had a blast!

I'm new to the world of cake decorating but that sounds like so much fun! Do you have to be at a particular skill level for stuff like this or cake clubs in general? I checked the link on Cake Central about clubs, but there don't seem to be any in New England. I also checked out some of the other things on the Cake Camp site - they have a CakeCruise too! The 2007 is Alaska bound and Collette Peters is one of the keynote presenters.

Ok so I got on the website and I am having problems navigating it! How much is it and how do you know the requirements for it?? This is so cool!!!

Last time there was a registration fee (that wasn't very expensive) and then you paid for each class you took. So you can make it as expensive or affordable as you want based on how many classes you take. I think there's plenty for every skill level. Last year, I remember classes were offered by Collette, Nicholas Lodge, Debbie Brown and more.

Oohh this sounds like fun!! I am always looking for an excuse to go to Vegas! I think I saw that the registration fee for last year was $100 or $80 for early bird registration.

wow, that sounds like an awesome time! I doubt I'll be able to go. I still have small children at home and we're short on money right about now but maybe the next one icon_biggrin.gif Wouldn't it be awesome to have classes with Colette Peters, Nick Lodge and all the other big names in cakes!! I wonder if they'll have the same teachers again this time as the last?

Thanks for the info. I'll have to keep my eye on this detective.gif

I agree...the summer is my go time. I hardly have time to breathe, let alone go to a convention somewhere in the summer! They should do it in the fall or winter. Boy, I'd love to go to Vegas or Orlando in the winter icon_lol.gif much warmer than here icon_wink.gif
