that's pretty close i've spent almost my whole life here. i don't think there are any cake clubs around here maybe around concord or manchester. Not alot of people around here that are intrested in making cakes and stuff I've only been doing it for a short time but it tottaly relaxes me. I'm glad that some one else around this area enjoys the same stuff.

I am new at this as well. I have always enjoyed baking but got into cake decorating when my daughter asked me to make her wedding cake. I took two Wilton classes in June and was hooked. I have been making and decorating cakes every week since then. I wish there were more people in this area into decorating so a club could be started.

Hello fellow NH's

I was just talking about this to someone near me - Raymond NH. It would be so cool if we could meet up one a month or something and share a technique or just gab a little. Some times I feel like little NH gets left out in the fact there are no great cake shows close by nor do many "famous" cake decorators come up to teach that often icon_cry.gif

I have taken my classes in Hookset at Eaton's . I was going to take the Cake III class but I got the lead in a community theater production that reheres the same night. If it wasn't the lead I I would have said sc$^@#w it. But its not to often the chubby girl gets the lead!

LOL

i have found the only time any one notices NH is during an election year then all eyes are on NH to see what were going to do.

I would love to meet up! I have taken classes @ Michael's in Keene. I am planning on taking Course III next month. I took Course II and Fondant and Gumpaste. I wanted to take it in July but I had my daughters' wedding and was sick after that for almost a month. I think I will be ready in October, weather is cooler then anyway!

Congrats on getting the lead!

I maped you guys on Yahoo to see how far away. It looks like I am the farthest out. How far is Manchester or Bedford for you guys. I am just trying to find a center location if we wanted to meet up. I have seen someone on here from Portsmouth, NH and the woman I talk to regularly is in Epping (next town over from me). I have also see I think spongemomsquarepants is in the white mts I think. She is the one that is converting her garage into a store front. I think we should deffinately make a road trip and go play in her store - LOL icon_biggrin.gif

More importantly we should all keep in touch!

Works for me, my daughter lives in Gilmanton (north of Concord) and we travel there almost every weekend. I work fulltime so I have every Sunday off. I will have every other Saturday and every other Wednesday off soon too.

I would love to meet spongemomsquarepants too. It would be great to see her new place.

I just realized I messed up her name - oops Its spongemomsweatpants - not square pants.

Weekdays are good for me because go figure dh likes to spend time with me on the weekend icon_twisted.gif

I do have two small kids but I will just give them some fondant to play with in the corner and we are fine icon_rolleyes.gif

So glad to find fellow NH's

ok here I am here I am. Thanks Harmonhouseofraymond for the heads up. I am totally down with this and would be happy to host a once a month meeting. Give me a month or so to get things up and running. I am in the lakes region, Moultonboro. I know that is quite a hike for some of you so we could even do a bi monthly meeting. I know there is a lady right over the hill in VT that would be up for that as well, so I'll invite her to chime in. But yeah in about a month or so I'd be happy to have you all come and play in my shop.
Lets work on this. thumbs_up.gif

icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif Hey you guys!!!! It's mommicakes from VT!! Nice to see that there are more people from the great northeast here. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Thats ok Harmonhouseofraymond, I think that was cute for Spongemom. I kinda like square pan. lol. icon_razz.gif

What an idea of a regular meeting place and meeting for the great cake decorators of NH and I of course would love to come over the hill and join in the fun!!! thumbs_up.gif

To help Spongemomsweatpants celebrate her new shop, would be a great event. I will be there with bells on once she figures things out. (As long as thats ok Spongemom...)

Kaseynh: People here don't even listen anymore, they know that I eat, sleep, drink, and even scream cake talk!! icon_lol.gif So it would be nice to gather and really be able to learn/share more.

I know that around here, there have only been a couple of classes taught by a woman in the next town down from mine, but it is only the basics that I'm aware of.

We need to have a CAKE PLAY DAY I'm thinkin'!!!

I'm there you all!!!

YIPPIE!!!!! party.gif

You guys are so funny about the cake talk. As soon as I mention Cake my family and friend roll their eyes and start to try to escape.

I hear the word party and I immediately say oh who is doing the cake - I hear my nieces bf is at boot camp and I am like can I make something for his care package

- Hey thats an idea - maybe for one of our get together we could do some cool cookies and decorate them and hand them off to a local military office to ship to our hard working guys overseas!

I tell everyone I get such a high when I see peoples faces when they see their cake!

Maria071 - Your in Manchester I am only 15 minutes away we should get together sooner!

I will be moving up to NH after we put our house on the market at the end of January and it sells. I would love to be a part of your cake club. It would be nice to meet others with the same interests, as I will be brand new to the area and not know anyone. I am also new to cake decorating and have completed Wilton course 1 and 2. I am currently taking course 3 with plans to continue on with the fondant and gumpaste class. At the end of October I am also taking a class with Nicholas Lodge at his Institute here in Atlanta. I am so excited about this class! I just hope I can keep up with everyone!

bake-A-cake00 - you are in my backyard - like 10 minutes away! We can go shopping at Eatons together or go to Michaels and AC Moore and use our 40% coupons

lvnvcowgrl - so lucky to be taking classes with a "celebrity"

Ya know how people who watch Star Trek are Trekies does that make us Cakies? - LOL icon_biggrin.gif

Well for anyone in Souther New Hampshire would you like to get together soon.

Maybe we could do a cake swap - maybe do some cupcakes from our favorite reciepes and trade off. I am not really sure what activities a cake club would do but I would be more than happy to try to organize. I am a SAHM of two.

Hey fellow NH

Did any of you submit any cakes to the Deerfield fair?

Are any of you going to the fair?

Any ideas on where or when to meet?

My cakes at the fair are the Red sox cake, the tea pot, and the purple and blue wedding cake.

I haven't entered in any fairs yet. Maybe next year. When is the Deerfield fair? I would love to come see what the entries are. Good luck with your entries! icon_smile.gif

The fair starts thursday and ends on Sunday. My DH is taking Friday off from work so we can go but its supposed to rain we might have to wait til Saturday. I entered a total of 24 items. The rest were all baked goods.

This is my first year doing this and I went over board but I thought maybe I would get at least one ribbon if I entered so much. - LOL

Ooooh!! I missed this when you posted originally. I am in Epping, NH (the one mentioned in previosu posts icon_wink.gif ) and I'd love to come play at the cake club! I am not far from Derry or Manchester and I'd be willing to travel farther as well. icon_biggrin.gif I wish I had the cahones to enter the Deerfield Fair. Maybe next year. I was wondering if they did a cake show type of a thing. Is it mainly for flavor or is it decoration too? Anyway.. I'd love to gtg and I'd LOVE to go up for Spongemom's grand opening!! (Go girl go!!!)

jkalman - I thought for sure you would have a cake there - your stuff are so awesome.

Speaking of which - I would be willing to find a place for us to meet and organize but you "jkalman" be willing to give a demonstration on how to make your gumpaste/fondant people - I love them.

Also if anyone else has any ideas I can organize something.

Thanks Beth! Maybe next year I'll get something together for the fair.. i didn't even think of it until it was probably too late anyway. I am pretty flexible when it comes to meeting up.. so if we get a few times listed maybe we can all vote on something.
