Look at this thing!!!
O my Lord, I have been working on this thing since 7am this morning, and now it is 2:45pm.Apsolutely and completely hidious thumbsdown.gif .It's head is is like three times bigger than it should be. icon_surprised.gif
I knew I would not be able to pull this one out. From now on when someone asks me to do a horse, I will just have to flat out reffuse it.
You know I had feeling that this would not work.So I told lady I'd charge her $28 dollars for it.At least I won't be so humiliated, knowing that she didn't have to pay much.
Sorry about my crying guys.I just needed to vent. And who else to, but my CC family.
Thank you for listening(reading) icon_sad.gif

It's not the best, and it certainly isn't the worst by any stretch!!n I think it's really cute! If you really think the head is too big you can always claim it's a characture of a horse.

I think it turned out a lot better than you think it did (and way better than I could ever do). It is obviously a horse and you did a very nice job. Ok, the head is a little larger in proportion than it should be, but live and learn. And your price is very low. I'd like to see your client get that kind of customization for $28 anywhere else!

I think it's adorable! You're being too hard on yourself. It may not be what you envisioned to start with but I think you did an awesome job. I especially like the way the horse is sitting. It's a very unique pose and I'm sure the recipient will love it.

I had my 11 year old, who loves horses, look at it and her words were "KEWL" icon_biggrin.gif

I don't think it's as bad as you think...I do think we are all our worst critics

ok, I hope this suggestion is not too late. This cake can totally be proportioned in about 15 minutes if u have the time. Not sure though when delivery is. Ok. move the eye up way closer to the bridge of the nose diagonally up from where it is now. Then fill in where u had to remove the eye with more star tip and I think it will help and really save the "big head" delima. I dont think u need to change anything else, just move it and repair the old eye spot.

but i totally agree with the earlier post. its definitely not the worst I've seen. Especially for a 3D horse, not just a sheet cake flat horse. Dont down yourself that much!! You did great. I have found when I feel TERRIBLE about a cake from time to time the people I bring it to are absolutely amazed anyway. So, present that cake with pride not negativity. U GO GIRL!

It may not have turned out as you had envisioned, but it's not that bad....and such a bargain! Sometimes we have a tendency to be too hard on ourselves and thus create a love/hate relationship with our art. This is a good start, don't give up....horses may indeed be your forte.

I agree with this completely!! Picture it~~~a horses eye is not below its ear. The eye is placed well in front of the eye and a bit higher than yours is placed. If you can move that eye I think your cake will be perfectly presentable! icon_smile.gif It is adorable!

Thank you guys. Thank you for being honest with me.This is exactly why I posted it, even though it was real emarrassment.
I like idea of moving an eye up a little bit.I really think it would improve the size of the head. But I'm soooooooooooooo done with this cake.I don't really care if I have to give to her free of charge.
I don't know, maybe I'm being all nonsense now.
Can't you tell I had a long day icon_smile.gif.
Thank you for being so kind and encouraging.
When you have a day like this, I don't even know if I want to do something like this for living.I really have a whole another deal or respect for anybody that gets a main income doing this.
It is definately more work than you'd ever do doing any other job.
You guys are great.
I think I'm still going to keep it as my hobby though icon_smile.gif.

OK, my jokes suck, but trying to bring a smile to your face, this cake is lovely, and its really too bad you charged so little.

I'm not laughing....I think you did one heck of a good job. I understand your frustration when you think it is not the best you can do, we are our own worst critic. My grandsons would sooooooo love to be presented with this cake. You did good, and the people who are getting this cake for peanuts....well, they did very very good. thumbs_up.gif

I agree with everyone! You are being too hard on yourself! After you take a shower, if you have time, try to move that eye! I think it will help you view it better later on! We are are own worst critics! There have been times where I have wanted to scrap a whole cake and not give them anything because I couldn't do what I had envisioned!

I think the horse looks wonderful! i have never done one and I have never seen one posed like that! They are going to freak at how cool this looks! Very nice job!

Rats! I miss everything. I didn't get a laugh out of it! I still think it's cute! And the more I look at it the more I agree moving the eye would definitely balance out the proportion of the head. You can also make the line for the outline of the 'cheek' and thin the head that way too.

Edited to add photo for clarification purposes. HTH:

LOL,I know the feeling.I'm in the suspense too icon_lol.gif .I didn't deliver it yet.I just got it done a couple of hours ago.I don't have to deliver it until tomorrow afternoon.I'm still considering an eye idea.I'm just so sick of it right now, I don't even wanna see it yet.But I have whole half of a day tomorrow. That way I will be able to have fresh start on it.
You guys made me feel much better, but I still don't know if I can bring myself to open up the refigerator.
I'll post the picture of improved eye.If I get enough nerve to do it.

The first thing that popped into my head when I saw your cake , "cool"....and it is !!! I can only imagine how much work you put into it icon_eek.gif

I do agree that moving the eye would put the head more into perspective but you've done a fabulous job !! thumbs_up.gif

You could....if you are ready to work with it a bit more...carve into the neck just a tad bit and make the neck muscle...then carve the "cheek" and move the eye up a little...I think that with a little bit more carving and a little bit of shaping and putting the stars back on it would be fine to YOU! But...it looks great to me! I don't think we can ever please ourselves Lejla. I always keep looking and keep rethinking my designs..and ya know what? Sometimes that's not such a good thing....I just have to stop...walk away....close the door or what have you...ya gotta breathe...if you are done with it then so be it, ya gotta cute cake there hun!!! So don't overthink it!!

I think it's great ! And I'm not a horse person even though I live where lots of people are. I wouldn't have even attempted it.

Someone mentioned a caricature. That put this silly picture into my head of a car with a horse laying down (you could see it from behind the car on the ledge behind the rear seats) with a bobble head! icon_lol.gif
