icon_confused.gif Hi ya'll...
I know the most of you probably make your cakes from scratch, but for some of us who don't have alot of time or just prefers the simple ease of a boxed cake mix (Betty Crocker and Pillsbury have been at it for a long time), I need to ask a question. How many cups of batter does a box mix make? I'm thinking it's 5, but I'm not sure....Can someone please let me know? I seeing all these instructions on how much batter is needed for each size pan, but I was wondering how that computes with the amount of batter in a single box of cake mix. I am currently trying to learn the "from scratch" way of making cakes, but I'd still like to know how many cups of batter are in a box cake mix. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Thanks ya'll!

I have found for those two brands, approx. 4.125 cups following the box instructions. If yoy enhance the recipe with other ingredients, then you will get more.

I've never measured batter in my life so it will be interesting to see what kind of answers come in.

With box mixes it varies depending on the brand and the flavor. BC and Phil. usually make 4-5 cups. DH will make 5-6. DH Golden Butter is 6 cups, while its white is 5. The chocolate and lemon are shy of 5.5 cups.

If you doctor it in any way that will also affect how much batter you get.

The best thing to do is take the ones you use often and measure them the next time you use them. Make notes and keep with your cake stuff so you know. icon_smile.gif
