HI all! I just got a call for a cake for saturday for a brother/sister b-day, Diego for him and Dora for her, the mom asked for an 11x15 cake 1/2 and 1/2, ok great.. The dad is my cousin and this is the first cake that this "family" has ordered from me, they have tasted the cake but never paid for one..SO that said I really want to WOW them! But I have a three tiered Strawberry Shortcake on saturday also which is kind of taking up alot of my brain.
I was thinking a FBCT but then again it seems too easy icon_wink.gif
I thought about using store bought figures to make them both go on their "missions" but I just can't decide..
Any advice would be GREAT! I know I have time but the brain is already swirling..
TIA
Holly

If you are good at carved cakes you could do the "Backpack" with chocolate transfers of diego and dora comming out of it- Rember to add the "Map" and "Boots"

Or you could do a flat cake any size but color it and shape it like the "map" and have figures of Dora and diego going on their mission.

What about a flat sheet with Dora figure (made or bought) with backpack and map sticking out of it and Diego with rescue pack. Boots/Alicia could be there or not. If the background were a rainforest scene, it would fit both characters-- especially since they often go on missions together. You could also put some of the animals they help on there if you wanted.

It really depends on what type of decorating you like to do... I like to draw out my characters and use the star tips to fill in the colors... Dora and Diego have distinct faces so, just using their faces would be cute as the main decoration on the cake. Then you could add jungle accents such as palm trees on the corners and leaves as the border. But thats just me... i like to draw more than anything.

Good luck and please share pics when you are done!! icon_smile.gif

How about putting the jungle trees in the center to kind of divide the cake and putting a Dora scene on one side and Diego on the other? They would go together but seperate for both birthday's.
I have several kids and I know how they want their own thing.
Just a thought

I like the backpack idea. That would be easy to carve. And the eyes and map should be really easy.

Great ideas! My soon-to-be 4 year old grandson loves Dora and I was planning on making his cake this year. I haven't done many and am new to decorating but kids are very forgiving!
