Remember all my post about Color Flow????? Well I finally have pictures of the Sesame Street cake I made last weekend. Color Flow went flawlessly until I snapped Big Birds head off icon_surprised.gificon_mad.gificon_surprised.gif That was ok because I had a ton of other pieces (went prepared thanks to the advice from this site). icon_biggrin.gif

I had to travel 50 miles with the cake and assemble it when I got there. I went through two horrible rain storms, road construction and then, like a bad movie, some loss a ton of cotton stuffing and it was flying around and sticking to everyone's wet cars. I was thinking, "Is this really happening?"

Made to the party 15 minutes AFTER the party had started and had to assemble the cake with 20 people watching. I was already nervous but to have an audience watch me assemble my first three tier cake was just horrible. On top of that it was one of those high table that you sit at with bar stool type chairs and the cake was in the middle of the table so my back was killing me as I tried to assemble it stretching across the table, as the table was already decorated for the party since I was late! icon_sad.gif

On top of that the top layer "shifted" during transport and I stacked the cake, in my nervous state, not centered so I played it off as a "whimsical cake".

As I write this I probably should have posted this in cake disasters but anyway, here is the finished cake......... Thanks to everyone for all your tips on color flow........... I learned so much with this cake. icon_smile.gif

Thank you, thank you, thank you......... Needed to hear that. icon_smile.gif

I forgot to mention that the client did not want any color frosting on her cake so that is why I used the color flow pieces.

Wow, that is a great cake! Your color flow pieces look amazing, I am impressed! Great job!

That must have been horrible having to assemble it in front of everyone... I'd be nervous too. The first time I made a tiered cake, I didn't know the icing would stick to the bottom of the board holding the top tier, so when I took it off all the icing came right off the bottom tier of the cake, and a ton of people were standing around watching me, it was so embarassing.

I can not express how nervous I was. I wanted it to look nice and I knew that the top layer already had shifted and people were asking me questions and I just wanted to do a good job. My best friend happened to be a guest at this party and when she walked in I was so glad to see a face I knew - she could see how nervous I was so she stood there to calm me down - thank God!

I probably would have fainted it what happened to you happened to me. I couldn't take anything else happening.

Thanks for the kind words. icon_smile.gif

Thanks to everyone for looking and their nice post.

Wow, this is a beautiful cake. I love the color pieces and the rest of the decors on the cake. It looks just like the pail that the cookie monster comes out of at Seame Place. Is it the cookie monster, I forget, it has been so long since I went to Seame Place. Please correct me someone if I'm wrong, thanks. Great job on your cake. icon_smile.gif
