I'm currently operating under cottage foods here in Ohio. In 10 years, my goal is to have a seperate building behind my house that has a kitchen and an area to meet with clients. I have to buy a house first though, lol. Hopefully, by this summer we'll be in our own place, and within 10 years, we'll be in the house where we want to stay so I can reach my goal! My husband is very supportive of this goal, as is the rest of my family. My sister wants to open an offsite bakery with me, but I really want to stay close to home. What's your goal?

I think maybe my 10 year goal would be to have an add-on kitchen(don't know how we would do it here) or at least have a business place somewhere in town. I will call my business Cassie's Cakes. Hopefully I will have lots of cake orders. Though not too much-I would be too stressed out. I would have my husband help me with delivering all of the cakes-maybe I could even get him to start baking cakes icon_lol.gif

To have my home-based business doing wonderfully! We plan to build a 3 car garage with a dedicated kitchen for me (hopefully in the next two years). I would like to retire from my full time position and do baking and pastry full time!

in 10 years I want to be teaching culinary arts (perferrably pastries) to teens in a career center or adult ed. I also want to take time to teach baking to special needs kids since it really is good occupational therapy for them! I plan on running a small catering business plus bakery also on the side (just taking orders here and there) I plan on developing and learning the whole time so once I get my associates in 2 years I will go for a Bacholors degree down the road and continue taking as many classes I can for continued learning.

To have one? LOL

Actually - I want to open a pastry shop in a chi chi poo poo (my friend's term! LOL) neighborhood. There's a real need for a good pastry shop with all sorts of desserts, not just cakes or donuts. Also there is a huge need in our area for vegan, allergy free, etc. desserts and pastries. I was thrilled to see this month's Veggie Times has a whole section on Vegan holiday cookies. But I digress...

And I'd like to have a mentoring program for kids who are slipping through the cracks in the systems in schools.

AND I'd like to have all this be able to support me quite well and still afford me a life.

So 10 year plan? I'm hoping to have the shop opened in 3 years, after I attend the pastry school of my dreams. By 5 years, I want to be doing very well. By 10 - having it all. thumbs_up.gif

In ten years (I love this),

I will have a storefront in downtown K.C. MO. (art district)
I will have 7 employees
I will be commercially selling my carrot cake to high end grocery stores around the US
I will be the most saught after wedding cake maker in my area
I will still be as pasionate about my cakes as I am now
I will have trained my son (who will be 13 then) to bake and decorate. He will be a awesome cake maker
I will have my husband trained enough to answer the phone and at least talk a little about wedding cakes lol

Man that was fun!

What a motivating post icon_smile.gif

My ideal place in 10 years would be:
Living on a medium size amount of land (at least 3 acres or more), with a separate building for my baking and for meeting with clients. BUT I want it to look just like a commercial bakery would look...professional and spacious with an official sign and office area, etc. I even have the decor planned, I just have to choose ONE them instead of 3.

It's fun to dream icon_smile.gif Lindsay
