Hello..I just delivered one...
I always charge $2.50 for buttercream and $3 for fondant (Satin Ice) per servings..

But, the one I did...was square so more servings.. So, I charged her $396, she gave me $400
Am I crazy???? IS that too much????
I will try to post the cake...if not, it is the last one I did it is all fondant...and serves 136 people.

Please..I just feel kinda bad...but I always go by that pricing....
thanks, NIcole

Well, if she paid you more than you asked (even just $4), I'm assuming SHE didn't think you charged too much.

I don't think you did, either.

Nooooo that's not too much! I think Indydebi in her infinite wisdom said. . .It's not a $400 cake, it's desert for x amount of guests. Never feel bad about your pricing! You're worth it!!!! Beautiful cake!!

Ok...thank you!
The pricing matrix here in canada is different I believe..But I will look into it...just thought it was easier to determine by servings...But I am very new to this..
Thanks NIcole

Oh and she said do NOT use fondant but make it that smooth anyway!!!!!!!!!! I will LOVE any advice you can give me!

Nicole, can you also add how/what icing you did that lovely monogram? Your cake is stunning. Cheryl

Number of servings X your price per serving is ALWAYS the right price. You just have to make sure that yur price per serving is giving you enough return on your investment of ingredients and time in the cake. I also charge an equipment fee and a delivery fee.

That looks like a lot of cake for 136 servings, though.

That is actually a 6 , 9 and 12 inches....Square cakes.
I went by the Cake guide on here...So maybe I am wrong leahs...I am new to this...They were a little over 3 inches tall too.

I use Satin ice...and For the lettering..(which I wasn't crazy about) I used Royal icing I just piped it on free hand....and all the beads I used Royal icing as well.
The little flowers ...maybe hard to see on the computer is out of fondant and I used little gold dragees.

Let me know if you have any questions sami7333...I also have to make the same cake in Nov.

Thanks everyone..I feel alot better!!

well, im assuming she paid in canadian dollars? i looked up the exchange rate, and based on that, i would have charged $450 canadian, that includes the charge for the flowers you made. don't feel bad at all!! you did excellent work.

I'm really confused. You say you charge $3/serving for fondant. This cake serves 136. That should come out to $408. So by what you usually charge, you didn't charge enough. I'm not sure what squares has to do with anything. A cake serving is a cake serving.
