I am new in the cake decorating business. Where are some good places other than Michael's, etc. to get supplies including but not limited to character pieces like you get from the bakery. Are ther any wholesale or discount websites or atalogs that are good? Thank you!

Welcome to CakeCentral!

Some good websites are sugarcraft.com, papermart.com and earlenes.com. Recently Jackie was taking a poll regarding supplies so she might be putting something together in the future for this website.

I sometimes pick up supplies from Hobbylobby...and you can find great deals on ebay. I have bought tons of cake pans from there. CakesbySam also sells decorating things too. icon_smile.gif

I get a lot of stuff from wilton.com, also e-bay is a great resource, Hobby Lobby, Sugarcraft.com, and Micheal's that's where I get most of my stuff. I even found some great buys at Old time Pottery. Hope that helps!

country kitchen is a very good for filling - the best prices I have seen. the other stuff is pretty good.

sugarcraft is good, they have good prices on some stuff.

oassis is good for the foil on cake board

If you want you can e-mail at this address: leana@rdmfg. net my home computer is down and I can send a list that I have put together over the three years on supplies. and who is better to buy.

lets say I need filling from country kitchen and need some other things I really search differant sites to see who is the best including shipping. I have one place that their cakes boxes are good prices and pans are pretty good. they are expensive on their filling, except for cream cheese (they are the cheapest on this one), so I need cream cheese I will order from them and then and boxes or pans (prices are pretty good for pans)

I hope this helps you. thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

Welcome!! Look in your phone book & see if your town has a cake supply store. Since you're just starting out that would be a good place to begin. Normally the people who work in those stores do a bit of cake decorating themselves. You can find anything you want & learn new things. They also teach classes from time to time. I love my cake supply store! Good luck!!!

I second www.countrykitchensa.com! I actually go into the store whenever i'm in the area visitng family. I could get into so much trouble there...lol

I also use Michael's, Jo-Ann's, a local store I have here in Indianapolis, and the wilton website.
