My brother has always sang the song Sweet Melissa to me for about 13 years now whenever I see him, I love him but he has severe issues and doesn't come around much anymore except to ask for money. I still like the name though because it reminds me of back when.

Robin is my middle name and I didn't even know that my first name was Melissa till I went to kindergarten, my mom's family only calls me Robin and my Dad's side calls me Bird.

So which name do you like better: Sweet Melissa's or Robins Nest Bakery? I go back and forth on which one I like best, I love them both.

Sweet Melissa is an easy name to remember, and it gives the idea of the product. I'd say it's a keeper. Good luck to you and your new business.

I like Sweet Melissas....easy to remember and sounds catchy and will make people sing the song in their heads, reminisce and feel all nostalgic. They will then associate those warm fuzzy feelings with your cakes!

I think Sweet Melissa'a seems to be the winner here, now I 'll check this week to make sure the name isn't already taken. Thanks for the votes.

I guess I am the odd man (lady) out here, I looked at the names before I read any of the replies, and Robin's nest bakery just sounds catchy to me. Now this is coming from someone that calls her little "business" Sue's Sweets. I just like it better. Just my 2 cents.

subaru, no problem, like I said I like them both. My DH actually is bugging me not to name my business Sweet Melissa's since he doesn't like it, he's not sure about Robins nest bakery either though icon_lol.gif The name he picked out was " A dash of perfection". I told him if I ever did catering I would use this one for that business.

mkolmar- sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Sweet Melissa's is taken! I just read a story about her in one of my industry mags because she just won a pastry challenge. Her actual name is " Sweet Melissa Patisseries", but that might be close enough to disqualify it as an option. Sorry! I think Robin's Nest is a really sweet name too.

Oh man, thanks SweetAmber for the heads up! I called the person who is from Ohio and doing all the paperwork and he said he would get back with me soon on the name since he wasn't near his computer. Robins Nest Bakery it is then! (unless that's taken too--- but that would just be weird for that to happen 2x) icon_confused.gif Sweet Melissa's seemed to get a better responce from people, but I do really like Robins Nest Bakery also.

Princess3, that's funny how your mom's name is Melissa and your is Robin. I wonder if I can use Robins Nest then since it's the craft stores name???? Thanks everyone for the input , I appreciate it!

Well, I am curious about this one, that would be hard to come up with any name if it has already been taken. I thought it was just in your state, if there were already the same name you could not use it??? I would never come up with a name then!!!!!!!!!Good Luck!

Technically, it would be Robin's Nest, just an FYI. If they don't have the name trademarked, you should be able to use it. If they are a big chain or well known in YOUR area, I wouldn't do it. But if it's just a local store not in your area, you are probably okay.

I like Robin's Nest because the logo opportunities are better.

A robin, nest, a cake with a nest, a robin delivering a cake to the nest - etc...
