Are There Any Chicagoland Decorators Out There?

I don't go to shop down there very often. You know...the usual excuses that it's too far, expensive and such.I would like to go one day to shop and look at the great bakeries! I am not sure if you know but the "Cake Girls" shop is down there. They have been on the food network challenges before!
I definitely want to plan a trip though for one day. I am starting full time college again this semester sooo I am not sure when it's possible. I need to save some money!!! 
Oh, yes! I've heard of Cake Girls. I saw their work in a bridal magazine a while back. If all goes well, I will be doing my extership with them.
Check out Sweet Thang, Le Royale Icing and Roesers Bakery. Those are the other places I have on my list to check out. If you dare venture to the south side, there's a place called Cake Walk Chicago that I've heard has an amazing selection of "toys." I have yet to go there, though.
I'm about 45 minutes west of Chicago. I used to order all my ckaes fron Roesers before I made my own. I want to go to Cake Walk soooo bad!!

The only thing that I know of in WI is the "Cooks" Place and that's in Milwaukee....I think if you do a search there is probably more in Chi Town. All I have here is Michaels and Hobby Lobby too! Bummer!

Lilsis- if you are near Rockford, you need to check out the Sweet Pan shop. They're just off of Bypass 20 at the 11th St (south) exit. The lady who owns the place is super nice and you'd be AMAZED at how much cool stuff they have packed into that little place!
I believe that the lady who owns Cakewalk is a member of CC, though I never see her post. I think her screen name is BettyCrocker or something similar. I visited her shop once last year. She has a fantastic selection of cookie cutters and chocolate/candy molds. Very nice lady as well. 
I'm in Belvidere, and keep telling DH that one day on my day off from my own cake shop I'm going to do a bakery tour of Chicago. Thanks for the names of some to check out ChefDebby!

I'm in the south suburb of Orland Park. I buy some of my supplies from Delicious Creations in Hickory Hills. Delicious Creations is a bakery/shop. The owner Sue is very nice!! I get my bettercreme frosting from GFS. Sometimes I have gone to the Wilton shope in Darien.
I have never been to Cakewalk. I did contact them about ordering a couple of items and never heard from them, so I ordered them from CK.

HI, I am in Chicago. I have shopped at Cake Walks and even had a cake on their website. Unfortunately there isn't another store like them in the city, and I am on the other side of Chciago from them. But you are not the onlyone from Chicago.
ooops.. forgot to tell you that Delicious creations is located at 87th & Roberts Road. They also have a huge selection of candy making supplies, and also have classes.

I am in the sw burbs of chicago (Plainfield) and buy almost all of my supplies from Cake Walk Chicago. It is a bit of a drive but very worth it! The owners are wonderful and very helpful. There aren't too many cake places around this area other than Hobby Lobby, Michaels, JoAnns and Wilton.
I stock up when I go to Cake Walk just because they are about an hour away. They have stuff I can't find anywhere else.

I also go to Delicious Creations. I live in Naperville, so its like a 30 minute drive to their shop which is right outside of Chicago. I started going there probably about 5 years ago when I was really getting into cake decorating. I'm probably there like 2-3 times a month. As Isabel said, the owner is soooo nice and helpful. I can't believe how much stuff they have in their little store and if they don't have it, they're always willing to order it for you. I get my boards, boxes, pans, decorating bags, tips, fondant, fondant tools, fillings, edible images, and so much more from them! About a year ago I took one of their candy classes and now I'm also doing that. I love this place, they have everything!
AHello! I live south of Chicago! I 've been to the places mentioned. Cake Walk Chicago sells Cake Supplies and offers Cake Classes. I've been to Delicious Creations, but that's a expressway drive, so it is sort of far. I mainly buy on-line, or I go to Jo Ann Fabric, mainly I go to Hobby Lobby in Tinely Park, they now sale Satin Ice Fondant and have a new product line of cake supplies. I there last night looking at stuff. I recently found this place by accident, it is in Aurora, IL. I use to live in Plainfield, IL. There is bakery call Creative Cakes in Tinley Park, that I'm going to try something from them, well I have have my hubby eat it, I'm allergic to egg (not a good scout) LOL.
Knightsbridge-global in Aurora is a PME store. Meaning they only sell PME supplies. It's awesome. You can look at their items online and they also have classes. Very nice and helpful people working there. I went to CakeWalk Chicago and it's a very small store. I went with a list of things I wanted and they didn't have any of them. So call in advance. I haven't been to Delicious Creations....yet. I also buy high ratio shortening at Gordon Food Services (GFS). They don't carry it in the store, you have to go in (or call) and order it. It took about 2 weeks. It's a 50 pound box, a lot I know, but it was only a little over a dollar a pound plus tax. Well worth the price. Of course there's always the Wilton store, but they never have coupons. I go there a few times a year if I'm driving through the area just to see if they have any sale items (usually past holiday things) and I went to their tent sale last summer too. I don't know if CakeGirls has a store any longer. Their store burned down and when they reopened I think they now only do classes and online shopping.....I think.
