I made this cake a couple weeks ago for a friend's baby shower so it was a free cake. It feed 20 - 30 people and both layers are filled. I was thinking of charging about $75 for this cake but have been told it was a little low and should be priced closer to $100. Everything on the cake was made by me as well and every corner has something on it. I'm in Canada so the pricing might be a little different than there, not sure though. What would you charge for a cake like this?

I think $100 is about right but no less than $90.

I'm probably not the right person to ask this question too because I've been told too that I price my cakes too cheap but I agree, you should charge more than $75 for a cake like this.
I usually cahrge anywhere from $1 to $2 per person but, when a cake has so much work like yours, you can go higher. Good luck and hope you get lots of orders.

I'm in Canada too, by the way.

Cheers,
Laura

It is a darling cake.

I would charge anywhere from $80-$100 depending on who I sold it to.

Do you really vary your prices based on your client?!? Never heard that before icon_smile.gif

I am so discouraged, because I think that's a fair price ($75), but I find that NO ONE wants to pay that kind of money for a cake unless it's a wedding cake.

Maybe it's just where I live, but I get so tired of people just choosing a cake because it's cheap. UGH! I am afraid my soon-to-be-acquired gumpaste skills will be a total waste unless I want to give everything away for free.

Anyone else run into this??
REALLY cute cake by the way! All your details are so nice! Lindsay icon_smile.gif

I would charge $90 for it at least. That would be about $3-$3.50 a slice. Pretty cheap for a filled cake.

Okay, thanks for the replies. As usualy, I wasn't going to charge enough. If I get any orders for a design like that, I'll be charging at least $90 for it. Thanks again icon_smile.gif

That sounds like a great price and if I was going to buy one like that I would be willing to pay $90.
