The closest Home Depot and Lowes are almost 50 miles from me...1 way, I decided I needed to find a Preval Sprayer for a cake that is due on Friday...went and they looked at me like I was NUTS....what is a preval sprayer they asked...or What does it do???? NOBODY knew what I was talking about...How and where is the most likely place to find this gadget??? OHHH Let me throw this in here to... ALSO today I go into the Hobby Lobby....and was thinking I'd look at their air brush machines...I ask where they are and the SNOTTY BRAT SAYS> "Umm Ma'am they are really expensive..." I look down at my close to see if I have crap all over myself because I didn't think I looked homeless!!! I mean for all she knew I could of been a millionaire...sure I was dressed in a t and shorts but my goodness...I really wanted to buy that airbrush but didn't because I wasn't going to do business somewhere that allow people to act like that...I did mention up front about the girl and what she said and they shrugged it off....I mean come on guys if ya don't want to work for your money quit...or at least learn some manners!! SO NO MORE HOBBY LOBBY FOR ME!!! Ok I feel better! icon_biggrin.gif Thanks for reading my rant.....I guess I will go to Michaels and do my business from now on...but until then..anybody have some ideas I can use without the preval sprayer...I wanna use it for Lustre Dust and everclear on some fondant pieces...

TIA

Christi

I got the same reaction at my Lowes when I asked about the Preval sprayer - but luckily another clerk was around the corner and he heard the conversation and said that they had quit selling them several months back and to check at the automotive stores for one.

Now - if I could just remember to stop at the automotive store!!!! Also, I have seen them on eBay too.

Is that the brand name? I've never heard of it before. I got my airbrush from pheil and holing. I love it. I was sorry to hear about your disappointing trip to hobby lobby. I love that store and have never had a bad expirence there. Did you tell the manager? I would have had a fit if that had happened to me. Well, good luck in the search for an airbrush. Oh yeah, I hate home depot. the people that work there are stupid. I usually have to find some man who is shopping for himself to help me. Oh well.

Sometimes they sell them at art supply stores. I got mine from www.dickblick.com. They also have them from third party sellers at Amazon.com.

I heard the Preval Sprayer was being discontinued. You can check their website to find if it's true and if there are any retailers in your area:
http://www.prevalspraygun.com/

Also, don't stop shopping at Hobby Lobby because of one rude girl who hates her life. When you mentioned her rudeness to another person, were you talking to this girl's co-worker or her manager. Take your complaint directly to management. I had to complain about a rude worker at a major grocery chain one time. The manager was so apologetic, he reprimanded her and gave me a $20 gift card to encourage me to keep shopping in their store. Sometimes you'll run into nasty management, but usually a store doesn't want to lose customers.

Hey, they've got pretty much the least expensive one that I've seen. I just started looking last night, I think I want to get one. I order my other stuff from there so I think I just might get it. Is it easy to use?

I had a similiar situation happen to me the other day when I was calling around for a birthday banner. I called a sign company (who promoted banners) and asked if they made customized birthday banners.. she said... "not for what you want (before I even stated what I wanted)... ours would be way too expensive for you!! I couldn't believe it.. how do they know how much money we have to spend on a specific item. I was so insulted. I seriously don't understand how some companies stay in business with the way they treat people. Anyway.. to get off my rant... I don't know if this will help you or not, but if you go to www.prevalspraygun.com and click on the contact link, you can e-mail them for a list of suppliers in your area. Maybe you'll luck out and find someone more local. Hope it helps.

i always print the picture of the item i need. cause I will get frustrated if they tell me they don't have it. to later on find out the DA is just being lazy and not looking for it. I found it at home depot, paint area behind a desk - it was locked up w/other paint items.
And i would have told the manager at Hobby Lobby about the girls attitude. Maybe not point out who it was, but definately let them know they gotta have a talk with the staff.

lol I would have said.."well how much are they?" she would have answered "x dollars"..to which I would have laughed condesedningly and said "Oh Hunny if you think that is expensvie then I need to talk to your boss about getting you a raise, (pause to shine my tiffany and co diamond ring) I guess you can go ahead and grab me 2 m'kay, (big shi*ty smile, batting of eyelashes), thanks so much"

Mind you I do not have a tiffany and co diamond but you wanna know I'd act like I did icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I really can not stand people like that icon_mad.gif ,and can say from personal experience, we have a lot and I mean a LOT of obsecenely wealthy people in this area (for example the president of france was just here a few weeks ago) and there are more than a few that look like they don't have a pot to p*ss in, as they are stepping into their $200,000 ashton martins. That little girl needs a reality check.

Maybe she was just letting you know that they were really expensive there...she could have been trying to help.I've had sales people tell me before...oh, i wouldn't buy it here, go to so & so its much cheaper. It doesn't sound like she meant to be snotty...if thats the case, I sure hope she didn't get in trouble at work.

you know that is a very good point, one that I hadn't even thought of as I went off on my tangent. I too have had people treat me like I am going to steal something becasue I couldn't possibly afford it, but also had people tell me things like that to be helpful. I guess it was all in the way she said it.
Thanks for putting that in a diffrent light.

My dad told me a story one time about a guy he used to work with.

This old guy went into a car dealership and wanted to buy a brand new pickup truck. He was dressed in dirty overalls (from just getting off work), drove an old beat up pickup truck, he just looked grungy looking. All the salesmen looked at him and nobody would help him because they said he wouldnt have the money to buy one. Well they got this new salesman to go out and help the guy and they were laughing at him the whole time.

Well, the new salesman showed him around to all the trucks and then took him into his desk. The guy said he wanted a custom made truck...All the bells and whistles...asked how much it was..the salesman told him...he was like ok ill be right back. The whole time the salesmen are still laughing at the new salesman. The guy went out to his old beat up truck and came back into the new salesmans desk. He asked how much was it again and the salesman told him...The guy laid out cash right there on the desk for the truck. He had had the money in a lockbox in his truck. Dad told me that it was one of the most expensive trucks you could get also at that time. The other salesmen were very stunned and very ashamed after that.

Point of the story. Never judge a book by its cover.

Oh btw...the guy was loaded. Lived in a big huge very nice house. He just watched what he spent and always had money on him and could buy anything he wanted.

I think if that were the case (her being helpful) she would of said ...I would buy it at another place then here....She had a very snotty tone and didn't act like she wanted to work.

I am all about giving someone the benefit of the doubt..wish you could of heard her tone of voice when she said it.

You know it really makes me mad that salespeople think they can judge how much money you are likely to spend by the way you look. Before I quit my job my husband and I had a decent income, and rarely thought about how much we spent. Since I quit my job we can't quite buy things on a whim like before, but we are still comfortable. My husband goes shopping in wrinkled shorts and a tee shirt, sandals, and a beat up old John Deere cap. I usually wear jeans or lounge pants and a top I most likely bought on sale at a discount store. Personally, I just don't like to spend lots of money on everyday clothes. (Business suits and such are a different story, but not stuff I'm going to lounge around in.) I have better things to spend my money on, like cake decorating supplies!!! Anyway, I always feel like the salespeople at stores are keeping an eye on me, not because they want to be there just in case I need assistance, but to make sure I don't steal something. It's aggravating.

I totally had a "Pretty Woman" flashback when I was reading this...remember when she goes to buy clothes and the saleswoman says "It's very expensive" then she goes back later for the BIG MISTAKE moment. Classic!
Take heart, you are in good company with Julia Roberts and that girl will get hers. Keep smilin icon_biggrin.gif
