Hi ...I just wanted to warn fans of Toba Garrett that if you already own her Well Decorated Cake book you dont need to buy her new book..Professional Cake Decorating. I just got my copy and I was thoroughly disappointed. The book is almost a duplicate of the Well Decorated book. I was soooo hoping I would love this book..its going back tomorrow. Save your money.

Thanks for the information! I had planned to get that for my daughter for Christmas and she already has the first one.

Amen to that. I sent back my copy also--it has much of the same info as the well-decorated cake book, just more of a student format.

I don't have either one of the books. If I was to get one, which one would you recommend?

Her new book is really a textbook for cake decorating--it begins with the basics (filling a bag, piping borders, etc.) and incorporates much of the material in The Well Decorated Cake. There are questions at the end of each chapter and exercises to do. The recipes in the back are also sized for a 20-quart mixer as well as a 5 quart. The price of the new book is $65, the WDC book is $15 or so. I felt that for the money, WDC was better for me, since I didn't need all the basic lessons.

Thanks for the tip, I am always looking for new books. I dont have either and have been through the classes so I guess WDC would be the one for me.

My book just arrived! I have only taken a quick glance and am excited to get home and go through it more closely. Other than Wilton class books, I have no instruction books, and this looks like a great extension and tackles things I have been anxious to try including marzipan. Not much of an oohh and aahh book as a step-by-step how-to, but that is great for me. I can tackle a lesson, and continue to gain skills. (I also got it for a great price - so that works for me!)
