I think I can officially call myself a cake decorator! This is how my weekend started out.
Thursday I decorated the grooms cake, it was a deer hunter with camo sides. My sister-in-law called and thought maybe she was in labor. Hurry up and finished cleaned up my mess. Got a call back and false alarm. Close call!!
Friday morning started making the icing, went to my freezer and got my 16" cakes out. One of my 16" had about a 6" crack right down the middle, it was about half the way through the cake. DH went to the store and got me more eggs and I rebaked that cake. Finally finished icing cakes around 9 pm.
Saturday morning, I logged on the internet to the weather channel and it said for where I live the temp was 70 degrees and 90 percent humidity (this was at 6am) . We go to the reception site (outside reception) we were there about an hour getting the table set up. We were dripping sweat. I was getting so nervous!!! We came back home for a while. Then about 2:30 we headed back out there with cakes. Taking our time and saying a few prayers we started stacking the cake. When we finished and cleaning up, people started showing up about 5 minutes later. While we were waiting on the bride and groom, we had a fan blowing on the cake and one side looked to be bulging a little. No one else could see it, so it may have just been me. But we made it through. The aunt of the bride told me that when she was in the car from the church to the reception, the radio said it was 98 degrees!!
I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all of you who help with my questions!!! Later this afternoon DH is taking me to buy a NEW stove with my cake money!!!!

Oh, a question.... couldn't you have patched that cake with icing to hold it together...or no?
Happy stove hunting...

Thanks everyone!! We just got home with the new stove. I'm so happy!!!
No, we don't have a baby yet. My brother took her to the hospital last night, they said she was dilated to 2 and she was having contractions but not enough to keep her. They did say she probably won't make it to her appointment on Thursday. It's so exciting (this is their 1st).
