There is a picture of a doll cake on this website. " Cinderella Cakes" and in here gallery of doll cakes. She has a Barbie Dpll that resembles a brides maid with a scarf around her neck and a white and pink dress, on the dress there is a pattern effect of some sort. Can some cake decorating expert please tell me how to achieve this effect on fondant? Here is the website hopefully you will see what i am talking about.

I don't know for sure how she did it, but I would use a stamp or stencil to get that effect. I would use pearl or luster dust mixed with a little vodka for the "paint". This would work.

Looks to me like it's been stamped with an embosser dipped in pearl dust.

There are ways to make patterns by using an impression mat on the fondant before you put it on the cake. however, that doesn't really look like an impression. It almost looks like they handpainted the pattern on using luster dust (it looks like a shimmer pattern).
