you mean the cakes in the top row on the front page? How many favorites does a cake need to have to be in there anyway?

top or middle row................ it doesn't matter with me.

The top row is achieved by no. of people who have saved that cake to their favourites, and the middle row is dependant on how many views a cake has had. I would love to get a cake in the top row too - the only thing I have in there now is blocks of wood (my serving size samples) - which took me about 5 minutes, not the 6, 12, 24 or 50 hours I have spent on my cakes - oh well, guess I'll join you in the pity party - you do great cakes by the way!

I like your cakes but i really like your tiki so i will add that to my favs. I hope that helps you.

I have to say, I have only been in the middle row once with my r2d2 cake, but it was a great feeling!! I wish I could add yours to my favs tonight, but I am on my really slow computer, so I'll go save some in the morning, and wish you luck, you do deserve to be in the popular cakes, you do great work!

I just took a look at your photos. I think your work is great. I really like the tiki, I will put it in my fav's.

It looks like you've only been posting cakes since June. Give it time! The cakes of mine that have 100+ saves for the most part took a year or two to get saved that many times.

I've noticed that certain kinds of cakes are more likely to be saved to people's favorites: baby shower cakes, wedding cakes, and whimsical cakes. There are others, but those are some that stuck out for me. Kids' birthday cakes don't seem to get saved as often, particularly if they're a design that's been done many times (even if the cake is done very well).
These are just general observations--nothing about your cakes and particular.

Your cakes are good. Don't be discouraged!

crablegs.......I like your tiki cake a lot also and have now saved it in my favorites. I like the bright Hibiscus flowers too. My patio is a tiki decor and this cake would look great at a party out there. Of course I would have to make mine from all buttercream.
I hope this helps you get to that top row, you do a great job of decorating.
I'm hoping to get there some day myself. I guess I do to many generic cakes.

after looking at your cakes...you should be there! maybe it should be 50 saves...100 does seem like a lot.

I went and took a look at your cakes. They are all very good...better than anything I could do right now, just starting out with no training. However, not to be rude, but...I've seen a lot of REALLY amazing cakes...like Collete Peters kinda cakes in those "all time favorites" lists. While your cakes are nice...they're not at that AMAZING level, yet. Keep working, keep practicing and maybe someday, you'll get there. I aspire for that list, too.

Yeah I noticed to that a lot of the saves are also fondant/gp figures , whimsy cakes, wedding and what not but ya know I have SEVERAL sheetcakes that are in my favs....

I don't think the cake has to be amazing...and also remember that people save cakes also for bits and pieces of cakes...A idea here a idea there and then WHAM throw it all together to make a even more awesome cake!!!

I would love to have mine there too but I guess I need to get some photos out there first! My digital camera is new and I've only made a couple of cakes since I got it. I'll have to get some photos scanned and get some out there. But, I think I'm afraid because there are so many amazing cakes people have done and mine are definitely not at that level.

I hope you get there ,,, I was so thrilled when one of my cakes was on the middle row ... and I just about jumped out of my skin when it got to the top!!! But I have been decorating cakes for almost/over five years and I have put several in "my photos" ... hope you get there soon!! (I wish I knew how to get to the middle as well ... the top makes sense ... but the middle almost seems like someone has to nominate you inquiring minds want to know!!)

I'm happy people have even looked at my stuff. I have 23 favourites total ... and I feel like a rock star lol. As a self taught cake-girl ... that's tons for me!! This forum is so great. I added your butterfly and flowers cake. Love the colours!! I don't know if I've ever added a favourite because of who someone is ... but I'm also pretty new ... but I just add things that catch my eye.

I think we all want recognition, it just feels good. I hope one of your cakes, or several of them make them to the top row!! If one of my cakes got 10 favs ... I'd have a party! I hope you all have as much fun with this site as I do!

Well hun, don't feel so bad...I have more one hit wonders than vanilla ice (one comment) and have been on here since 05. So don't you worry, you'll get there way before I do.....

I once had a cake in the day's favorites (2nd row of photos, my Raggedy Ann cake) and I was thrilled!!
