The price is a bit scary too! You wouldn't want to touch it. Not my choice but someone will love it.
That's crazy!!! It's cool but it's just some cookies and tissue paper not worth the 101 they're charging, imho.
Incredible price, isn't it
But you have to remember you're not just paying for the cookies and container (paper bag, in this case).
There's the advertising, the website, the corporate greed, whatever......
Really makes you feel that the baker/decorators on this site are way undervalued.
Someone in a different thread, shared that her husband said, and this is NOT a quote - that cost determines worth.
So our talented CC crew aren't charging enough!!!!
Reminds me of the Martha Stewart tv movie. Martha was selling pies at the mall for $5.00 (I can't really remember) and none were being purchased to her dismay..... So after lowering the price from 5 to 4 to 3, and still not selling - she upped the price to $20.00 and they flew off her little table.
Is there a lesson here
you know i have been looking at cookie sites for over an hour now just trying to get some ideas..and it amazes me...my cookies are just as good and in some cases better decorated than the cookies that they are selling for 60 and 70 buxs and up....trips me out...
that's the kind of thing that makes me say, "why on earth would I pay THAT much for something I can recreate myself..."
and thus my many, many, many hobbies...jewelry, machine embroidery, cookies, cakes...LOL
Wow! Pretty high price, but I don't think I would do those cookes for much less than that! That's a LOT of cookiesand a LOT of detail! Lots of work in that thing! Would anyone pay that price? Not sure around here, but the time involved, it would be worth it!
"we" would never pay that because we know we could make it ourselves. There are a lot of rich grandmas that want special things to send the kiddies across the miles at Halloween or any other time. If they were willing to pay it, I'd sure make it for them! LOL That's just insane.
That is a lot of cookies and tons of detail, even I would charge $70-$80 for that collection of cookies. Then again, I insist on being paid for my time & talent (what there is of it lol!), gone are the days of me slaving away for minimum wage or less!!!
I think its a pretty reasonable price for 16 detailed cookies....its probably what we would tell our fellow cc'ers to charge if they asked.
Thanks for posting that site....alot of cute ideas!
I live in the Raleigh/Cary area, and they can get prices like that. A simple 10 inch buttercream cake with a fondant bow goes for $95.00 at the bakery in town. That's how I get a lot of my orders.
you know what???? I really think it's worth it!!! I wouldn't pay for it myself........because I'd probably just try to attempt it myself.........but there are like 6 different colors on some of those house cookies and the detail is phenominal I wouldn't be surprised if some of those cookies didn't take a couple of days each to make!!! Do I think it's worth 101.50 .......Definitely....would I pay 101.50......Definitely NOT! But they are very well done!!
Thanks for the site..lots of good ideas. I love the village theme-great for Christmas as well.
thats what i was thinking too yankeegal....and thats pretty much what i was looking for when i found i ..was some ideas...but you know i have to agree with what many of you have said...even though to me it seems crazy to pay that much for the bouquet...for someone who can not / would not/could not do something like that i guess for them its alright...cause like others have said they are very well done and look just breath taking...
Gosh, those sure were fun to look at, now if I could only duplicate them! Thanks so much for sharing that site with us.
It doesn't look like food. And I don't like all the tissue paper - it looks sort of cheap and clearly it isn't. I like the cookie bouqets where they are cute and decorated but still look like a nice cookie that would taste good. I guess I have immature taste because I sort of thought it was tacky
And yes, I would never have said that if the person who made it posted a picture with 'look what I did' but they didn't so I get to be honest!
I agree with KHalstead. We always complain that folks makes faces when we quote cake prices. If I wanted those cookies and did not want to take the time to make them I would buy them!
That true with anything, fast food, cakes, cookies, jewelry, quilts...etc.....

I COMPLETELY agree!! Those cookies are amazing! Besides, I'm sure people that see the price of cakes are thinking that they are priced too high as well. As decorators, we really need to appreciate that the work that goes behind something is valuable.
By the way, KHalstead, where in Ohio are you moving??
Angie
it's funny the 7 cookies for 64.00 comes to 9.15 cents a cookie..
the 16 cookies at 101 comes to about 6.32 per..
Ok..so..then if we charge around 5 bucks a decorated cookie...I guess we can be in the ball park..lol!!!!
If you break the price down its a little over $6 a cookie, which you aren't just paying for, you're paying for the container and the paper and the time it took to make each one. Thats not that unreasonable. The price was not surprising, I think its because everyone comes from different areas, here most decorated cookies don't go for under $2.00, and thats simple design. Someone on here (that everyone raves about her cookies) from near where I live charges up to $6 per cookie for large and/or heavily decorated designs and she has to turn down orders because she's so busy. II most likely wouldn't charge under $70 for something like that (it doesnt say how large the cookies are, that would be a factor), its terribly time consuming and detailed.
I agree thats a lot for cookies, I couldn't afford it either, but then I have the time/skill to make them my own. People could make them theirselves, but then people could also open up a cake mix, and a can of ready made frosting and make their own cakes too (and thankfully not everyone does or we would all be out of business!).
Hmm I don't get it - I saw the houses and I'll agree they look nice - but the ghosts and pumpkins and tombstone aren't that impressive to me....... I can see the houses going for $9 - $10 a cookie - but the other ones - is it just me - or do they look really small? Maybe it's just me and my computer screen but they looked kinda tiny to me..... I wouldn't pay $6.00 for a tiny cookie...... but to each his own! I don't understand paying more than a $1.00 for a cookie myself anyway! LOL Of course if I spent all that time on it I'd charge more....... I just sold a bunch of cookies (in my gallery) for $0.50 a cookie - it was for a friend so I basically charged her half price b/c I was making the cookies anyway for fun and she said she would buy them..... but with all the time it took me - I think at least $1.00 a cookie....... hmm I wonder if I could get more........
No matter what the size of the cookies there is alot of detail and you're paying to get them arranged as well as for the time.
I wouldn't pay for it but then I won't spend $20 on a sheet cake from the grocery store either.
Wow! I may be moving to NC in a little while and this just floored me. We have a Cookies By Design here and they are equally as high. Personally, I wasn't as impressed with these as I am by CBD. I live in a small FL town and have just started selling very simply decorated small NFSC at $1.00 per cookie, no arrangement, just the cookie. Oh, and on another note--I'm not sure about these but the CBD cookies are incredibly thick and didn't look as if they would be very good to eat. Maybe they are forced to make them that way to ship them but I personally wouldn't pay this sort of price for those bouquets. Just my opinion though...
CookieCHef where in NC will you be moving to? i sell my small cookies starting at .75 and my cookie bouquets start at 25.00 for a 6 cookie bouquet but my cookies are 1/2 in thick also...
I have to tell you gals that I ordered one of the bouquets from this place last year to see how they stacked up to mine. They are HORRIBLE. The decorating was the sloppist I have ever seen. It was nothing like their pics. I am not even exaggerating a bit. My 16 yr old son who doesnt care a bit of how its decorated decides to eat one. He took a bite and ran in the kitchen to spit it out (this from a kid who will eat ANYTHING). I took a bite and I cant even descibe the taste. It was bitter tasting and nothing like a cookie. It would have been worth the money had it looked good and tasted good. But it didn't. It was just gross. It gives cookie decoraters a bad name. Just wanted to let you know.
Happy Baking!!
