Bring on the advertising icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif.

I got the paperwork in today that my business name has been approved and duly registered with the state. I am now the proud owner of "SweetCake Creations by Meg"...

So now what icon_wink.gificon_surprised.gif?

Sorry to ask..but that just means your name is registered. Do you also have to be licensed by the state or county in which you live? sales tax?

Here in Missouri we have to have the name registered and 3 additional licenses.

Congrats if nothing else is needed....not trying to be negative just want everyone completely legal and enjoy it as much as I do..

we have to register our business name, and get a license to operate a kitchen (be it commerical or out of the home) with the state (Our MsMeg has already gotten her license), also in NH there is no sales tax thumbs_up.gif

My day job is Realtor, and here are ideas to market and promote your business: Get cards and give them out to everyone you know, focus on your "sphere of influence" in other words, everyone you know, neighbors, friends, your kid's friend's parents, husband's coworkers, etc. It's easier to "sell" to people you know first, than to those you don't. Make a simple flyer or brochure to hand out w/photos, get a website going, consider a car magnet or license plate holder. Consider walking a section of a neighborhood and handing out flyers or brochures. Find a bridal show or way of reaching your "target market". Place a small ad in your local newspaper and keep it there. If you grab the possibilities of ways to promote, seize the opportunities that come your way (and they will), work, work, work, at it, have energy and enthusiasm when promoting yourself, you will get results! (p - o - w - e - r , poss., oppor, work, energy, results) Go for it, and best of luck!
