Halloween Cake & Candy Competition

Did anyone else watch this, or was it just me?
I am SO shocked that Bronwen didn't win! I LOVED that cake. The other cake was good, and I do agree that her candy work was amazing, but the final cake just didn't stand up to Brownen's, in my opinion.
I loved that skeleton hand holding the top cake up.

I agree with you, she should have one. Especially since she was doing techniques that nobody had seen before. I also thought Norman should have placed. His was much better than the first place winner..IMO
I agree Bronwyn & Norman took the cake so to speak, lol. I couldn't believe that Norman didn't even place, with all that detail & painting, sheesh. It was fun to watch as always, Duff was great too.
I was torn between Bronwyn and Norman and couldn't believe that neither came in 1st! They were all awesome cakes though.

Bronwyn should have won in my opinion. I LOVED her cake. The colors were stunning. Everything about it was spectacular. Norman's cake should have placed too. Duff does amazing work, but I didn't think this time around was better than Normans. I too was surprised by the outcome. Hubby and I were both shocked. He's been getting into these challenges and now he wants to attend one. LOL!!
I would have hated to be a judge on this one! They were all fabulous! But, I think I would have picked Bronwen, too, because of the technique & difficulty. I would love to take a class from her - I never did see exactly how she did the cauldron faces & pumpkin face, but they were amazing.
I will always vote for Browen - that girl could make dirt look good! I was shocked too that Norman did not even place, and I'm a big Duff fan so that is not easy for me to say.
You can tell that competition was from 2005; Bronwen w/ her ponytail, Duff looking a little younger...I loved it!
I always find these competions on Food Network by accident and then tivo them. I wish FN would come up w/ a better way for me to find them. I always feel like I'm gonna miss one and that would be terrible. I would never get any laundry folded!

If you have Tivo you can "Pick programs to record" ..."Search using a wishlist"....Create a wishlist using "keyword wishlist" and put "challenge" in for the keyword, then have it search. Any show with the word challenge will come up. There aren't too many, and this is how I find all my cake, cookie, etc. challenges.
I missed it! But, I just checked and it will be on again.
Here are the dates and times if anyone else needs them:
Challenge: Spooky Cake & Candy Cook-Off
10/25/2006 9:00 PM
10/26/2006 12:00 AM
10/28/2006 6:00 PM
10/29/2006 3:00 PM
I do that (the wishlist thing) and currently have "cake", "cakes", and "challenge" in there. I have only had a few come up that way, so I think it has more to do w/ how Food Network labels them. Like the Candy and Spooky Cake COOKOFF....they should've put "Challenge" instead (I think)!
Sometimes I think my tivo has a mind of it's own anyway. It should, for what it costs!

Too funny. I have the same thing in my wishlist "cakes" "cake" and "challenge". I just can't accidentally miss one!
