I dont agree with any of the charts I see (really, 8 servings for a 6 inch cake???? Must be terribly thin!)

I dont bake many 8 inch cakes, but I have had someone ask me how many servings for a 8 inch cake (that is four inches high, torted and filled)
I say 10-12 but I have seen as many as 20! What is your personal opinion? ((not Wilton's!)

Thanks!

I make an 8" round for a lot of my family gatherings. 12 servings that are decent sized, not too big, not too small, is about what I average if I do the cutting. Which I usually do becaused no one is brave enough to "ruin" all my hard work icon_biggrin.gif I make the 6", two layer filled, for my family of 4 and we usually each get two pieces out of it but my kids usually get smaller pieces as I don't want them hopped up on sugar icon_lol.gif

Just what I've noticed from my own experiences.

I agree, 12 for a party and 24 for a wedding is what I always tell my customers.

I say anywhere between 15-20 people. If there are other desserts, the slices will be smaller.

I go by 16-20 servings for a 2 layer, 8" round. I do torte each 2" layer.

But I'll be honest and say that in my house, that would be more like 12 servings. I don't want a teeny weenie slice. icon_biggrin.gif

I divide the bottom of my pans with a sharpie and I have 12 pieces on an 8 inch round. That is a pretty generous portion.

Thanks! That helps a lot. I agree, those must be awfully tiny pieces for 20 plus! I am going to tell them 12 -15 slices.
