Look what I found...

This must be how she made them. If you look at her's, the side view it looks like the same. her's are just way prettier. I wonder how she got them shiney?
I saw those on the wilton site and I thought they were just gorgeous... and was wondering how she did them... Thanks
I agree hers are way prettier! And rounder on top. As for the shine, maybe she covered in fondant and used luster dust? Just guessing. Such a cute idea. They look real.
I was thinking that she made cupcakes (maybe jumbo ones?), lopped off the top, and put a mini ball (from the wilton mini ball pan) on top...??
fondant, luster dust...
those are just way too cute!!!
At my cake store they have a chocolate 3D ornament mold. It cost something like$40. Anyway if I made them I would bake a jumbo cupcake lop off the top and place a chocolate top on it. Just what I might do!
Wilton sells a mini-ball pan. It has 6 cavities and each cavity makes 1/2 of a ball. My thought would be that she used two of the halves put together with icing and then covered them in fondant. Luster dust would make them shiny.
moydear77.. That's a good idea.. maybe that's how she got them so smooth and shiny accompanied by the luster dust... another idea is that she baked them in the ball pan like formerbuckeye said and then molded the chocolate in the pan and just place the baked cake in the chocolate shell and placed that on a cupcake... Am I making sense?

Perfect sense! I am thinking now! It would be neat if you made a completetly round ornament from Choc and took a hot knife to cut off a quarter of the ball and place it on top. You can fill it with something fun like cotton candy! Sorry I am just thinking for my nieces and nephews!

That is a great idea... They would be nice for Christmas presents or to but in gift baskets for the holidays...

I was thinking the same thing, those cupcakes (more like works of art) are the cutest things!! Does anybody know the person who made them?
Would love to ask a couple of questions although I must say, you ladies kind of figured it out! I want to try to make them!
Wow! Those are neat. That gives me a lot of ideas for Christmas candy. I need to go to Sugarcraft to see what the dimensions are on these. Thanks Prettycake!!
Thanks again prettycake!
I went to their site but I didn't see it. Am I looking for the same pic?
That's awesome! How did you make the shiney or is that how the chocolate looks when it's done?
Those cupcakes are the best!!!!!
I just saw them on the Wilton web site.
I just voted too!!!!
moydear77... Is that the ornament mold that you were referring too... Is it a 2 piece set and if so... How did you put it together without the seems showing..and... Did it fit over the cupcake...?
Yeah twinsline7 you are right..lol .. but it's a start... I was looking at the cupcakes again on the wilton site and I'm wondering if it's a mini cupcake that the ornament it on... the bottom cupcake portion looks kinda small....
so cool........those would be awesome even NOT on a cupcake.....like just to put on a platter with christmas cookies!! so cool!!
I actually used a two piece ball mold to make that one. Two piece mold are real cool. Just place chocolate in one side and place the other side on. Clip together and tipping it back and forth to coat the inside. You can trim down the seam and rub it down or hide it! I put it up against a large cupcake wrapper and it looks good to go. It would just sit on top of the cupcake!
By the way that mold cost me $1.99!
Jackie asked me to do a tutorial so I will try to do that in the next couple of weeks!
