Hi y'all!

I need a recipe for Red Velvet for this weekend and I have heard so much about red velvet from complicated recipes to easy ones that you just add red food coloring too.

I have one recipe that is suppose to be "really old"; however, I was wondering if anyone out there has a "true" red velvet recipe with the cream cheese frosing.

My mother bakes all the time and believe it or not she does not have one because, "she does not like it and it is a labor of love to bake.".... hhmmmm

The person that ordered the cake says that these people "know red velvet cakes". So I told her that, "well, I do not know red velvet cakes." She said that she was not worried that I would figure it out.

Can anyone help me out hear........ I'm getting confused?

On top of that you could go to www.food.com and see if there is one and read those readers reviews. They are very truthful over there.

www.allrecipies.com is another place where people post very candid reviews of recipes.

Between those three places and reading the users comments, you'd probably find what you need.

The one Niki mentioned listed here the waldorf astoria red velvet is AMAZING!!!!! I have made it probably 10 times and there are always raves about it! And for once speaking from experience ( I have done the mix and I have done the cakemix Doctors version..and all types of homemade) this is the BEST I have tried! hope this helps!

I want to try the Waldorf one. (I have one I use that is similar to Paula Deen's, I think hers just makes more batter.) But I'm just a believer that Red Velvet isn't Red Velvet without cream cheese icing. Maybe I'll just try the cake part...

Ironbaker my aunt said someone had asked her about a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, and though it isn't something that she has ever done before she made it with a cream cheese icing and said it still is out of this world, but because of the moistness and such she thought on this recipe it was a bit much...whatever that means.... now I love my carrot cakes with cream cheese frosting for sure!!! But my family's recipe the carrot cake was made with baby food carrots and some how the recipe is gone can't find it... So I am out looking for a recipe for that!
