I've been to Wilton in Chicago multiple times. I've completed the Master's, intro & advanced sugar work, intro & advanced gum paste with Colette Peters, a week of flowers with Nick Lodge, chocolate classes, etc.

I highly recommend taking any class that interests you. You always get more than what you pay for--just being around like-interested people is a hoot.

Hope you get to go & have a wonderful time!

I've just done the classes at Michael's. YOu mean there are specific Wilton Education Centers or what? That would be great if there were something around here.

No, the Wilton School is in Lombard, IL, just outside Chicago. It's in a shopping center about 4 miles from the Wilton Industries complex. They offer expanded cake decorating classes.

Thanks Rae, that would be great to get some further education. Not to mention a good excuse for a road trip. icon_wink.gif

I have been to all the classes and I enjoyed them. Just remember that alot of the classes are in Michael's so the instructors are making suggestions as to what you will need because that is what they are told to do. In advance try to buy a cake dummy so you do not have to keep making cakes, buy a tool box or fish takle box to but your tips in because it is cheaper and the Wilton tote does not give you enough space. Make your own fondant instead of buying the Wilton brand. It cost me $3.00 to make it. If you are a lefty (like myself) make sure you get your left handed tips. Wilton only supplies right handed tips in all there kits. When it's time to buy your rolling pin for fondant I bought a $5.00 silicon one from Walmart and not the $20.00 in Michael's. If you have time make get you gumpaste mix and make it yourself.
