Todays recipe is a Mexican Chocalate Cake!! It sounds soo yummy and is made from scrath . My question is about the sour milk. I have never herd of that in a recipe before or seen sour milk . Can any one help me with this one . Or can I us anather type of milk??
I was taught that sour milk is regular whole milk with 1 teaspoon of white vinegar added for every cup of milk. Someone else may have another idea.
To make sour milk take and put a TBSP of lemon juice in a measuring cup and add milk until it reaches the one cup line. Let it sit for 5 min. and you now have 1 c. of sour milk. Adjust accordingly for smaller portions.

WOW Thanks Gals !! I will try both your ideas and thanks for the quick reply. I love your quote Misdawn!!
Thanks! I just broke up with my boyfriend of two years last week and I just keep telling myself that quote. He was my first love so it's been really hard.
You can use buttermilk also......it's as close to spoiled milk as possible...and I think it makes the soured milk recipes taste better....
Thanks a bunch for your reply that is a good idea !!
I also wanted to share with you I saw your 4th of July cake before the holiday and I tried it for my Family they loved it!! Thanks
ewwwww.......just the thought of sour milk makes me gag. Any of you ever FOUND a missing sippy cup that had milk in it? That is what I think of and I could never put that in a cake.
That is so funny, mjones! I think finding a missing sippy cup with sour milk in it has to be the most disgusting, gag inducing smell ever!!
Well, I don't know exactly how they make sour milk, but it definately isn't milk that has gone sour. Think along the lines of a sour cream like product.
You can find sour milk in eastern-european markets. Like a small russian grocery store if you have one near you.
Thanks for the reply I still need to try this recipe . Im going to end up using the butter milk if anything or the lemon added to the regular milk.
I dont think we have any markets like that ,but thanks PolishMommy.
