That is hilarious!! I have a younger brother who's birthday is Dec. 28 and the next brother's birthday is Jan.7th--one year and one week apart!! My parents had "the fever" bad- icon_redface.gif

I live in Katy, outside of Houston.

The 3 stores that I know of have already been mentioned, in order of my favorites...

Cake Craft Shoppe
Amazing Cakes
Make a Cake

I've never had a problem with Cake Craft Shoppe. They have fabulous classes there. I've taken classes there from Nicholas Lodge, Earlene Moore and the owner, Sheila Brooks. I took her gum paste flower class. She has always been incredibly friendly and helpful. One time while browsing, I mentioned that I had a particular daisy cutter that I could not figure out how to use and she pulled one off the shelf, opened it up and proceeded to show me how to use it. Now THAT's customer service!

And funny story about Make A Cake, before my cake days, when I was a teenager (25 years ago!), my best friend's boyfriend played in a band that practiced in the back of this store where one of the other guys, Dave, worked. When I got into cake decorating several years ago I went to the store, and Dave STILL worked there, as manager! LOL! He's gone now, though, since the owner's family has taken over management.

That's when Amazing Cakes opened. I guess because I knew Dave, I give them most of my business. They hired him as manager. It didn't seem to work out, though, as he is now gone. I wonder what he's doing...

Anyway.....looong winded post from a Proud Texan!

Its good to know the other tx decorators here, im always looking for someone to refer to when i get enquiries out of my area. Im located near Denton, north of DFW, if any of you are within 75 - 200 miles i would love to have your email address so i can refer customers to you.

the two cake stores in this area are Cake Carousel in Richardson and Cakes Amore in Plano (located at Spring Creek/Central Expressway). Although it's a smaller store with smaller inventory they have great customer service!

Hey yall, I'm from central Texas! Kind of close to melvin01, Tabbee and Kelleym, except across I-35 in Taylor. Kelleym, I saw one of your cakes said Cotton Club wedding cake...the one in Granger?

LOL, yes I did a wedding out there in January. I agreed to deliver it for free before I realized how far it was. Oy! I don't make that mistake any more. icon_lol.gif

I'm in Hewitt, between Lorena & Waco. Both of my B-I-Ls & their families live in Lorena.
I've been doing cakes for a little over a year. I wish we had a cake club around here. I love doing cakes for fun, but I don't think I'd want to do them all the time for a business...then it'd be "work" and not "fun".
