Hello everyone! I am doing a birthday cake this weekend for a boy who is turning 10. There is no specific theme. I am looking for ideas or pictures for this cake. I know he likes primary colors...but I do not want it to look too babyish! Let me know what you think!!! Thanks!!!! icon_smile.gif

Wow, that's tough. Can they not give you any ideas on his likes or hobbies? The army tank cake comes to mind. I have lots of ideas, but who knows if the boy would like them? Things like Harry Potter, Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, etc. Any clue if he plays a musical instrument or sports? Sorry I can't be more help! That's a hard request with no specifics. Good luck!

Do you know what he likes? Are you using buttercream or fondant? If he likes primary colors you could ice in buttercream or fondant and use primary color fondant to make ribbons and stars to stick on the cake or in the top of the cake.

http://www.wilton.com/recipes/recipesandprojects/yearbook/soaringspirit.cfm check here and use primary colors on a single tier cake

http://www.wilton.com/recipes/recipesandprojects/Anniversary/every_years.cfm or this in primary colors (you could use stars instead of hearts)

Just a couple ideas...

What size is the cake? Do you know anything else about him besides the primary colors.

How about a 1/4, something to maybe this. outline the numbe 10 on the cake, you can you use the star tip to fill in - use his color. Then above the number 10 wrtie "happy Birthday" or Happy above the ten and under the ten write Birthday plus his name. the border can be one of the color from the 10.

does that make sense, it will be colorful and show how old he is.

Thanks for all the GREAT ideas! I really like the idea if the 2 tiers with primary colors! I may use dots on one tier and stars on the other. Then I might put a #10 in the middle of the top tier with his name. I will post a pic when it is done. Thanks again...I knew you guys could steer me in the right direction! thumbs_up.gif

I really like the tow tier one too. Here is another option, without the legos.

Traci, I also like the cakes that you put M&Ms on. Maybe do one like the incredibles that you just put on here, but put the "10" in the incredibles place.
