Ladies/guys .. I want your input on an idea I have for a cake.. let me give you a short background .. the man over our custodial services in our building (20 floor building) birthday is tomorrow.. now this man is just a gem .. when we call for ANYTHING and I mean anything, he is there within minutes to help us out .. when we carry things down to our vehicle, he fusses at us and tells us to call him and he will come help us .. he always has a smile and is the kindest person .. anyway, my cake idea is this.. I was thinking of a plunger.. a round cake, using the mini wonder mold pan and then covering filling in with icing (maybe trimming down the wonder mold so it wouldn't stick up too high); then making a handle out of fondant .. I want to write on the cake board (not sure there's enough room on the cake as it won't be very big since it's just for him) "you just can't stop 'em" .. what do you all think?? would doing a plunger be too gross in the form of a cake? please let me know.. I have the batter all mixed up and I'm about to bake the cake .. need help ASAP!! thank you!!!!!

I think it would be cute. He would love it. You could write on the handle, if it was thick enough. or you could make his name with gumtex and the letters could stand up on the plunger. Writing on the cake plate could be cute too. If I am writng on the plate I always cover it with fondant and make a cute design. I think whatever you do he will love it.

thanks sheliaattaway .. I just wasn't sure if a plunger was such a good idea for a cake lol .. I may try cutting out the letters in fondant .. I have some MMF left over from the wedding cake I did and I have the small letter cutters .. I may try cutting the letters out .. I'm not sure if they'd fit on the handle but I bet his name would .. and I could just do the rest of the letters on the cake board .. good suggestion!! thanks! icon_biggrin.gif

Does he have a good sense of humor? He sounds like a very sweet man.

Yes he does lisa .. he's a really easy going guy .. I made a cake for him a couple years ago that was a drain and a plug (new from the hardware store) and I wrote on his cake "Another one down the drain" .. he loved it .. icon_smile.gif

I just didn't know how the idea of a plunger would be in a cake .. too gross you think?

I think it all depends on the person. He sounds like he would love it. I figure if people will eat the Kitty Litter Cake, then a plunger is totally cool! icon_lol.gif
