I count 18 Aussie's so far, including me and 2 others I know of who haven't posted in this thread.
Keep em coming ladies and any gentlemen hiding out there!
Great idea about the buddy list. I'm adding you guys to mine too.
BTW, you don't have to go to private messages to add to your buddy list. Just scroll up to the top under the tab that says 'Cake Decorating Forum' and next to the 'search' button is the buddy list button.
Hi guys !!
Wow, you are all very talented ! ( been quickly checking out your photos !)
I would love to do classes at Planet Cake - I love their cakes
I do 2 1/2 hrs a week classes at my teachers' home ( she is a brilliant decorator ! ) but I don't sell any cakes yet & I think it will be awhile before I'm good enough ( judging by your photos )
Thanks Barbara, Can't believe I didn't see it, I hate that when it's staring you right in the face!
I know what you mean. I also had a "DUH!" moment when a CC member told me how to add a name to your buddy list.
Hello everyone!
I finally found this post thanks to BarbaraK!
Yes I'm also an Aussie from Melbourne! I would love to add you all to my budy list!

I just found another way to add buddies - go into each profile & click the buddy button ( assuming you all don't know that already!!! )
Hi everyone,
Never realised there were so many of us out there. I think there were only a couple when I started. I have also done a chocolate course at Greensbrough. I was looking through their list of courses the other day, they have gotten really extensive.
Hi Fran by the way!
Mel
((WAVING))
hey there! not many people from the western side of Oz... but there's me and beany that I know of.... perhaps there is more... we seem to be a little outnumbered!
Anyone else in WA?? (besides Beany... I know you are! heheh )

You know who I forgot....Torki... check out her stuff. She has a few sugar art that is enviable by me...
Hi to all. I am in Glenroy, althought i will shortly be moving to Sydenham.
It looks like my company will be going ahead.
The take away shop opposite my DBF work is willing to let me use it at my convenience if I supply cakes to him at no cost. Yippee, that just saved us a fortune in conversions to be licenced as a home business.
Will keep you all posted with details.
Cheryl
How exciting for you Cheryl. Wishing you all the best with your new business.
BTW, all the names on the bottom of your posts..... they are not all your kids are they?
howdy fellow aussies.... have been laid up in bed with upper respiratory infection since last week and have only logged on today.
Great to see more of us aussies on here... i have so many questions about cake decorating and sometimes it just doesnt translate!!!
I am doing a few courses at Greensborough at the moment... buttercream, beginners chocolate, am doing the mad hatter cake workshop tomorrow night, also did the cup cake decorating course. trying to cram in as much as I can while I am on maternity leave.
Hugs to all the fellow aussies cakies out there!

Hi, Jo! Sorry for the delay in replying - I've been away for a few days. Got home an hour ago, and already getting my CC fix - how sad is that??
If you can, JUMP into any Planet Cake classes you can. They are a truly amazing bunch - not only extraordinarily talented, but willing to share to the umpteenth degree - nothing is a trade secret! Paris (the owner) is just delightful and the teachers (in particular Annamaria) are amazing.
The classes aren't cheap, but they are soooo worth it!
P.S. to everyone Jump onto Planet Cake's forum, under "previous students" and check out Fran's Mad Hatter cake! WOW!!
**both arms madly waving to the WA ppl**
Me too!! Im a complete noob though!! Hahaha only done 3 cakes so far but can't wait to learn more. Can any West Aussies recommend decorating classes??
Hey BarbaraK,

WOW! I take my hat off to you. 9 kids and you still find the time to make beautiful cakes. I have only 3 and somedays I fell like it's 3 too many!!
BTW, cannot leave comments on your cakes as you have not enabled the comments function.
Thanks ozcookie its good to hear from someone whosdone there classes i really want to do one especially there figure modelling one so when they release there 2008 courses i ll try to get into one there pretty popular! i love there work they are unbelievable
Hi, another Melburnian here!
I've taken a number of classes at Greensborough, I highly recommend any class you can get into with Heather, she's the lady who makes just about all of the flowers for the shop and she's just a wonderful person, also Irene is a lovely teacher and has lots of wisdom and experience.
I've not heard very nice things about the teacher at Cake Deco, apparently he's rather nasty to his students and isn't very encouraging, but of, course, I've not been to one of his classes so I can't tell you for sure what he's like.
Planet Cake is the be all and end all of the cake workshop! They are incredible artists there and if you can get together the cash to make it to any of their classes then you should definitely do it, you will not regret it!
Good luck with it all
Hi everyone,
I'm fm Melbourne too, but currently living in asia. I'm going back home for the christmas holidays and would love to take up some classes! I did stop by Cake Deco in the city 1 1/2 yrs ago, and the guy there wasn't too friendly - as if he wasn't interested in people signing up! I just tried getting into the Greensborough website but can't click into the classes/workshops or timetable. Can someone post the telephone number/email address for me so that i can call/write to them! thanks so much!
If i've experience covering cakes with fondant, like over 30 cakes, but still not totally smooth, are there any suitable classes for me?? appreciate any help, thanks!!

Just thought I would say Hi - there are quite a few of us on here now which is good to see
Hi Guys,
I'm in Brisbane and new to cake decorating (to embarassed to put any of my attempts up yet!)
It's good to see a good Aussie contingent though, more minds to help with ingridient conversions!!!
Debbie

You should put some up. I figure if I put all my newbie stuff up (looks kinda messy now) in time I should see an improvement over time LOL(say 5 years). I think it looks not so crash hot but so many people here are so helpful with how I can improve but very very encouraging at the same time.
Amen to the help with the conversions and where to get it.
Leigh
That list is great lovely there are a couple of people on their not posted in here yet, so it's great to know they are Aussie too and some more posting, welcome all Aussies, gotta get busy adding the rest of you to my buddy list, that makes loads more than 18 now!
If there's enough of us we might be able to get an Aussie forum going!

It helps knowing who is aussie and the ones that have great cakes. I love getting advice and love it from talent all over the world but just love that we have that much talent here. If it takes CC to get us all together then that is great
In complete agreement with you lovely, I do adore CC, and the inspiration on here, and there is a wealth of information here too, but for specific Australian ingredients and rules and regulations etc, then it's great to know that we are out there to be asked!
Now that there are 30 plus of us I'd love to hear from people about what suppliers they use, there is a Aussie topic on it about but there weren't that many posts on it, so it would be great to hear.
