My boyfriend's birthday is in August and we are throwing him a party (he will be 25). He said that he wants a Star Wars themed cake. He also wants a chocolate cake with mint chocolate chip filling. Now i've never put ice creami inside a cake (i've only made ice cream cakes).

2 questions:
1. How would i go about making the cake w/ the ice cream filling?
2. Anyone have any ideas for a star wars cake?
Thanks, Erin

Here are a few ideas. Once i made a cake.. I look the cake pan and lined it with parchment paper I put ice cream in it about 1/2 inch. and froze it. When it was frozen I took it out and peeld tha paper off (easily) and put it between 2 cake layers. I was wonderful. If you did it you would want to freeze the cake untill about an hour before setting the cake up. I hope I helped a little.

There is a stand up R2D2 in the birthday cake gallery. Very cool!

Hi Erin! I had a Star Wars party for my husband's suprise 30th birthday and made the Death Star. It turned out pretty good. Of course there are things I would have done a bit differently but he loved it and that was the most important thing!! The picture is in my photos.

I even played the Imperial March (Darth Vader music) when he walked inand bought the cups, plates and napkins with Darth Vader and Yoda on them. He is such a geek but I love him anyway!

I did this one... Very simple... The sand is light brown sugar.
