Hi everyone!
I just did a cake with a piping gel design. Now I have about 2T of 5 different colors in parchment bags left over!
These would be nice to have for writing or whatever. Can they be stored? If so, what's the best way and how long will it last?
Thanks in advance!!!
Piping gel can be stored, but how to do it in parchment bags is the question! If you have couplers and tips on them, you can get tip covers at Michaels and Joanns inexpensively, and then store them in plastic bags.

ok, thanks! I don't have tips or couplers on them. I put them all in a ziplock bag with all the air pressed out and I'll hope for the best.
don't store gel or icing in parchment bags -- they'll get crusty and sticky very quickly and you won't be able to re-use them and your gel will dry out and get thick and rubbery.
get some little plastic containers or small ziploc bags (the snack size would be perfect) and store any leftover gel that way, so that the air can't get at it. the ziploc bags are ideal, cause next time you need to write, just make a new parchment cone, snip the end of the ziploc bag, and squeeze the gel into the cone -- very quick and clean.
