I want to make a handbag novelty cake but do not know where to start. Can some kind member please help me out.
I already know how to make the fondant/gumpaste but need help on the 'bag design' itself.
What size of tray/baking tin should I use? How many cakes must I make to sculpt one bag? How do I sculpt it? And any decorating tips for the bag.
Thanks in advance for the help. I hope to make this bag for this coming weekend.

I have put some instructions together on the following website on how to make a cosmetics bag.
The only change you'd have to make is to add a handle to make it a handbag.

let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for you quick help Nati.
I do not have the sophisticated sugar gun like you so I guess I will have to manually twist the rope or make a simple snake-like strip. But do you know how else I can create a zip without the gun.
Sorry, but I seemed to be asking a lot but do you also have instructions for those squarish bag (like those LV or Hermes Berkin shaped type).
Thanks a million again.

To make one of those squarish bags you'd make a rectangular cake, and cut it right in the middle, then sandwich the pieces together and put them on the side like the round cake. You would then follow the same procedure to ice etc.
For the zipper, cut a fondant ribbon and put it on the cake, then roll a very thin sausage, this will be your zipper bit, it has to be super thin and even, you then stick this right on the middle of your fondant ribbon, with a knife you indent a zig zag shape all along the sausage part. This will give you the look of a zipper.

Thanks again Nati.
I will give it a try based your instructions.
Hope to post the photo if I am successful.

Nati
Nati,
was so busy baking and decorating an ENOURMOUS set of Hoo Haas for the EDITOR or our local liberal paper...and cleaning up after the ginger bread mess!
and I'm still making my cake balls for the BOOK LAUNCH..( not my book..hahaa!)
I took the cakes out of the freezer, and it's now 20 minutes to 5 and I'm just chillin'...
I have only one order for Friday (SO FAR!!) so maybe I can get to it over the next few days....
I also need to finish my um..cake, I have a different perspective I would like to try! Would like a little more "LIFT" in my Mr. HAPPY CAKE...lol
I need to put together the 6 gingerbread houses that I baked..I dont' want to toss all that baking out the window!
It's so hard to do it all when you're alone!
but on the up note, the YOGA teacher gave me $30.00 donation on top of the food I sold!
There are still nice people in the world....
Like you! tee hee!!
