Is the food safety course that you have to take and then certify yourself and then apply for your license, does anyone know if it's a test regulated by the USDA and FDA that is the same no matter where you are? I am moving to a different state, but if it doesn't vary from state to state, I'm hoping maybe I can take the food safety course before I move so I'm one step closer to obtaining a license.

The course my husband took was called ServeSafe. I think there may be a few different companys that are accredited to give you this sort of licence, I'm not sure on how it all works though. I would call the local Food and Drug office the state you are going to be. It may take a few phone calls to get the info you need. You can also get info from a culinary school in that state, they will probably provide the course you need. Good Luck! icon_smile.gif

I think for the most part the food service classes are similar, the only differences might be in your states regulations. The food safety doesn't change because that is regulated by FDA, and should be uniform. It is the other things that may be different. In our state you can take the course online, you might check out your state health dept for info, you may be able to find out on line.

Check link below. This is who issues the certificate. You could contact them or contact the local health department in the area you will be moving to.
