Hello all, I have never really done but one or two different kind of cheesecakes and we are having a cake contest at work. Every year the same lady always takes first place with the same thing (cheesecake). So I wanted to see if I could do a cheesecake instead of my chocolate cake torted and four different fillings that I usually do. So all of you folks that do cheesecakes I need HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP. One final note she won't give up the recipe on her cheesecake but my sister knows her well and says all she knows is it's a candy bar cheesecake, thanks for any help icon_smile.gif

I'm not trying to be mean here, but I'm wondering if you really want to do a cheesecake just to toss her off her pedestal? I would rather win with something totally different and unexpected.

With that being said, I make a few really great cheesecakes-turtle and pumpkin being up there with my favorites. PM me if you'd like a recipe.

Nope not trying to knock her off her pedestal, but I work in a big facility and there is always a lot of GREAT entries and it's been the same lady with the cheesecake for the last six years. So I just wanted to change around this time, my thinking is maybe the judges just like cheesecake, and besides that I can't really think of anything different or unexpected to do(not very creative). If you would I would love to have the recipes and thanks so muchicon_smile.gif[email protected]

I made a pumpkin swirl cheesecake last year. It had a gingersnap crust and it was so good. I think I found the recipe on allrecipes.com or you can go to kraft foods website. There are a lot of recipes for cheesecake on both of these sites. Good luck.

My daughter requested a dulce de leche cheesecake for her 8th birthday this year. It was a big hit. Also, I just made a strawberry-topped cheesecake per request for my soon to be sister in law. Both cheesecakes were really good. I got the second recipe from allrecipes.com. Also, the strawberry topping was from a top rated recipe on the same site. Another idea might be homemade cinnamon rolls. There is a recipe called clone of a cinnabon on the site that is top rated. I tried it this summer and while it's a lot of work, it was well worth it. The rolls are huge and yummy and the cream cheese icing is icon_eek.gif Let me know if you would like any of those recipes. Good luck!

My personal favorite is Tyler Florence's ULTIMATE CHEESECAKE from the FoodNetwork.com website. It is SOOOOOOO good !!!!

Cheesecake is my all time favorite dessert - I'd personally do a cherry cheesecake. Nothing too strange or different. Just good ole cherry cheesecake. YUM...... thumbs_up.gif

Recently took Toba Garrett's recipe for a chocolate cake/cheesecake -- was FABULOUS and everyone here raved...

You bake two 2" layers -- torte those with a filling of your choice -- I used raspberry in mine. Bake one 2" cheesecake - just plain ole cheesecake.

Put 2" of chocolate down on board -- cover with cream cheese frosting -- put cheesecake on top of that -- put some chocolate buttercream on top -- top with last 2" of chocolate -- I frosted the whole thing in cream cheese frosting but you could do chocolate buttercream as well.

It was fabulous and catered to all the cake lovers and cheesecake lovers!

I lose a cheesecake contest every year (but I'm persistent!) to a lady that makes an eggnog cheesecake with a gingersnap crust. It is pretty phenomenal. Since it's in November, I think holiday flavors tend to do a little better with the judges.

Good luck!

I think I've tried that pumpkin one from allrecipes too but used sweet potato. Very good.

This is another that everyone really enjoys, White Chocolate Cheesecake with White Chocolate Brandy Sauce. It's good without the sauce too. I've also tried a raspberry sauce with it.

http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/White-Chocolate-Cheesecake-with-White-Chocolate-Brandy-Sauce/Detail.aspx

An easy, quick and delicious one is lemon:

2 blocks of creamed cheese (8oz.)
1/2 c sugar
2 tbsp flour
1 tsp lemon zest
2 tsp lemon juice
2 eggs

Cream the sugar and cream cheese together. Mix in flour, zest and juice. Then beat in eggs, one at a time...be careful to not overmix them. If you want, you could also add in a small container of lemon yogurt.

Pour into crust and bake for about 50-60 minutes, until ALMOST set in the middle. I then turn the oven off, leave the oven door ajar and let it sit in the oven until it cools down - about an hour. Then refrigerate it for at least 4 hours. I also put a "waterbath" in the oven while it's baking - which is a pan of boiling water at least the size of or larger than the cake pan, under the cheesecake.

Yum cheesecake.

I have the best cheesecake recipe EVER and I've done nothing to make it my "own" so I don't mind sharing! I'm responding now because I'll lose this thread. I don't have recipe here, at home, it's at the shop. I'm going there tomorrow and I'll grab it and post it. It's a praline cheesecake with a shortbread cookie crust....let me tell you...this is the best cheesecake I have ever eaten and all of my family and friends request it any time they get the chance! If you try it...you won't be disappointed! See ya' all tomorrow! thumbs_up.gif

I too agree with this poster, I'd rather win with something else, it seems a bit "mean spirited" to knock her off with a cheesecake.

Try tweeking your recipe!! have you ever thought of adding a bit of coffee to your chocolate batter? It seems to kick up the flavor of the chocolate batter.

Also, maybe, those 4 fillings....may not compliment each other...or too many flavors to compete with the tasters palate.

For cake flavors, I really like taking a white cake (I love the King Arthurs Flour recipe for a white scratch cake . . . my favorite white cake by far) and in this particular recipe, instead of adding a cup of milk, i have added a cup of brewed vanilla chai tea and it is outrageously good. And the vanilla chai spices tend to feel a bit holiday-ish. You could also substitute it for any of your favorite tea flavors for a unique cake.
