I just made my first ice cream cone figure using Winbeckler's buttercream recipe - icing sugar, shortning, vanilla and water. It was a practice figure to see if I could do it because I wanted to put one on a cake for next weekend (the 30th). It turned out so good, I want to use this one on the cake. Since it doesn't have any ingredients that should go bad to quickly do you think it will be ok until then? Should I refrigerate it or not?

After I download it I will post it on the site.

Thanx!
Debbie

I don't see why it wouldn't be fine on your counter. That particular recipe does not have to be refrigerated for a very long time. I'd be concerned about the ice cream cone in the fridge, though with the buttercream. It may get too soft. Personally, I would store it in the coolest room or cabinet in the house but not a cold fridge.

What exactly is an "ice cream cone figure using Winbeckler's buttercream recipe?" Thanks!

it is a figure in icing using ice cream cones as the structure. you can get the book at

i made Charlie Brown - he turned out great! it's really not hard and i'm sure i will get even better with practice. i'll post CB tonight or tomorrow morning. (i'm at work now)

FYI ~ I received an e-mail back from Winbeckler on this - they said to store the figure in a box for a couple weeks or in an air tight container for two months "or so". Same goes with the icing as it has no egg or butter in it. Since I had put the figure in the fridge I sat it on the table with a fan on it to dry any condensation that formed as it came up to room temperature so the colors wouldn't run and it was fine!

Thanks for you help!
