Information on American Cake Decorating contest

We areonce againlooking for fresh new cake designs to feature in our American Style Column. Finalists will receive a free 1-year subscription to ACD, and one randomly selected finalist will also win a grand prize of $250!

Choose one of the following themes and create two (2) different cakes for the chosen theme:


Wedding Shower
Graduations
Men's Cakes
Baby Showers
Retirement Cakes
Summer Birthdays

All cakes proposed for American Style must abide by the following:


Iced in buttercream or whipped topping only
Use a quarter sheet; an 8 to 9-inch round; or a two-dimensional, shaped cake (choose two (2))
Decorating instructions are completed in 5 to 9 steps
Decorated with generally available materials and supplies
NO plastic decorations
Airbrush techniques limited to what can be done with "canned" spray color
Limit rolled fondant usage to ONE of the two proposed cakes
Rolled fondant for use ONLY in simple, lay-on decorations

All finalists will be notified by Feb. 15, 2007. Finalists will receive a free 1-year subscription to ACD, and their designs will be featured in the magazine. One lucky decorator will also win a grand prize of $250!

Any proposals that do not abide by these guidelines will not be considered.
All entries must be received by Nov. 17, 2006. Entries must include photographs of two (2) American Style Cakes. Your name, address, and daytime phone number, along with the appropriate theme, must be included on the back of each photograph or in each email. In addition, include three (3) other photographs of your best-decorated cakes. Entry must also include a 30 to 50-word description of your decorating experience.

oh, Paula, you sneaky cheeky Paula...you didn't tell me you were involved with ACD! lol

I won't enter, but I will be sure to pass this on to the Chefs at school to see if any of the students will participate!
