I'm interested in trying out this flavor. I saw it on the Top 5 Food Network TV show when they talked about cakes. They shower Ron Ben-Israel with his cakes and he mentioned to a client on the show "passionfruit filling". I've seen a few recipes with eggs, but I don't think I like that idea... (custard, I guess).

Anyone have one they'd like to share?

Thanks! thumbs_up.gif

I love passionfruit as they grew in my backyard for years...We would have passionfruite juice very often, especially during the summer months...

Anyways, if there are any Spanish markets in your area, you may be able to find passion fruit pulp (also called CHINOLA and MARACUYA). They will be in the big freezers in small bags.

I make a curd, same way I would lemon...Forgot the ration but basically it's cooked down egg yolks, those left over from the buttercream, with some lemon and the pulp. The eggs are thoroughly cooked, so there is no need to worry about contamination. I whip about 2 heaping tablespoons of my thickened curd and it is SOOOOO DELICIOUS...Especially on white or yellow cake! It is an aquired taste though as it can be tangy....

I saw the show too BTW:...wonder what the dark pink filling was...Lingonberry, blue or blackberries...Either way I'm sure it was delicious!

I just found this thread...I am looking for something like a passionfruit mousse. Our wedding cake was vanilla cake with white chocolate mousse and passionfruit mousse. It was to die for! icon_smile.gif

I wanted to try and recreate it!

thanks!
