I need help. My husband and I have been doing cakes for over a year now for people. We just got our first wedding cake order though. I am stumped on how big to make it. She wants it very simple. Round, fondant, stacked with ribbon covering where the layers come together. I just dont know how much cake, how many layers to make for 200 people. The most we have done so far are for 100 to 150 and they were much easier.
Hello and welcome to Cakecentral! Here is a link that might help you with the amount of servings:

That was fast, thank you so much. We come here a lot for information but I have never posted anything I love to look at the pictures of everyone's cakes. I do all the baking and making and my husband does the decorating....it has been a great experience.
Thanks for posting that website, it is very good!
This is another graph, and it shows how much batter you'll need too. Note it's for a pan 2 inches deep. Or you can just measure your pans with water too. Good luck with the cake, and be sure to post pictures too! I'd love to see them.

We're all glad to see that you have been helped by this site!
That is so nice that you have something you and your husband can do together... I wouldn't trust my husband anywhere near my cakes... he can be all thumbs in the kitchen..
