If you search for "clear acrylic cake stand" on ebay, a ton of matches in different combos will pop up.

FYI--I am making this cake this weekend and instead of buying a whole set of stands, had my local cake shop order the three pieces I needed...10" & 6" plates and a 15" tube...only cost $24! Much better deal.

I made one of these in early march. people really ooh and aah over the construction / illusion of it. my husband and i actually made our own "stand"...we went to home depot, cut a piece of 1/2 thick mdf for the base. screwed a 1" floor flange (plumbing) to the base, twisted in a 1" steel pipe (you choose your height) and then for the top cake, do the same, but in reverse so that there is something for the top of the pipe to screw in to. we washed the hardware in the dishwasher first , then covered it in plastic wrap before putting the cake together. mine was a five tier, and including the boards, this was less than $15 for the stand construction, you do need to have tools available though.

to make the holes, i used parchment paper, folded in fourths to find the center over the cakes, then used a baking core (exactly one inch just like the pipe and cut the center of the cake out. for the flowers on the top, i used a tall, thin vase that i bought at walmart for $1.

it really is a pretty cool style for cake icon_smile.gif

Yes, the syems are hot glued to a card board ring that is on the outside of the acrylic tubes.

I gave this cake to the Bride and Groom as their wedding gift. However, if I had to make this cake again and charge for it, I would charge at least $500.00. There's a lot of work that goes in to it.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone icon_smile.gif
