I was thinking about doing a 3 tier stack cake, 12-9-6 but is too much cake for my birthday, so was thinking about 12-9 or 12-6 what you think is going to look better, also my birthday party is going to be on friday but my sisters birthday is on Wednesday so i was thinking doing a 3 tier and then saving 1 tier for my sisters birthday, but can I do that???
I say, never worry about extra cake. It can always be frozen and enjoyed another day or you can find someone to give it to..I am sure of it
I don't like 12-9. It will look like you forgot to put on the top tier!
If you do 12-6, place the 6-inch off center, toward the back edge of the 12. It will give a more interesting look. Otherwise, it may look like you forgot to put on the middle tier!
You could do 12-9-6 and save the top tier for your sister. It would be no different than the bride saving the top tier of her wedding cake.
Are you married to the idea of a 12"??? Why not do a 10 & 6. I've done a bunch of them and they work out just fine - still a lot of cake though (serves 40). Then you can use the extra batter you would save to make your sister her own cake. Just bake when you do the other 2, freeze the layers and decorate on Tues. or Wed.
