How do I make deep purple with getting a bitter taste?
I use americolors, but alot of purple makes the icing bitter.

Does anyone have any tips?

Also, how do I make shiny silver icing with bc?

I make deep purple by first making separate batches of deep red and deep navy blue. I color the icing and let it sit overnight to deepen. Then, mix the red into the blue a little at a time until it's the right shade. Sometimes I throw in a squirt or two of Americolor Royal Purple for good measure. icon_smile.gif

a bit of black also helps with deepening the colour. Start with your red and black then add black until you get the depth that you want. If you go too far you can bring it back with white.

Good luck.

Try adding a few drops of americolor regal  purple with a few drops of black americolor soft gel. If you initially add more purple than black( But making sure that you do not add too much of each color, to assure that your frosting will not have a bitter taste.) then maybe you can achieve the desired shade of purple that you are aiming for. I hope that this tip helps to you to achieve the shade of purple that you are looking for. Thanks, Nikki L. May:D

'fire in the sky'......ha ha ha ha oh that brings back wild crazy memories of times past.

I've not experienced the bad taste in icing with Americolor Gels and added Powdered colors for a deeper more saturated color.  I don't do that much decorating though.
