I just baked my first doll cake and the part I cut off to level is pretty dry.
It had to bake about 65 min for the center to get done. I know some of you use some kind of syrup to keep a cake from drying out but will it help a somewhat dry cake?? If so can someone refresh my memory on what is in it?
Thanks for the help!
You're thinking of simple syrup. You take equal amounts of water and sugar, bring it to a boil, let it cool, and brush the layers with it.
The recipe is at the bottom. You can omit the lemon if you want.

Here is the Martha Doll, for "cakespiration"

It does help, but it's not going to perform miracles. I always use it. Don't drown the cake though, just brush some on, like you would BBQ sauce.
Try moving your pan next time, I find the Wondermold pan cooks better if you make certain there is the same amount of space from the element both above and below the cake. Also, did you bake it at 325F or 350F?
The syrup will only help with the outer edges, not the inside if it too is dry.
